She was a homemaker. She is survived by a son and daughter, James T. Reed, Jr. and Terri S. Heaberlin; two granddaughters, Jamie L. Reed and Jennifer F. Huddleson; her great granddaughter, Brylie J. Huddleson; her brothers, Richard (Dick) Eaton and Donald Eaton, Jr., all of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ruth Eaton, Sr. on April 6, 2003.¹

     Gary Leonard Hood Jr. was buried at New Altoona Cemetery, NE 80th Street, Clay Township, Polk Co., Iowa.^3,4 He was born on January 10, 1967.⁴ He died on May 6, 1988 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa, at age 21.^3,4 He Gary L. Mr. Hood was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. He had boxed in the 1987 Golden Gloves competition. Survivors include his parents, Gary L. Sr. and Betty J. Mrs. Reed died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center. She was born in Des Moines and lived in Bryan for nine years. She was a retired private nurse.      Maxine E. VanDyke was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.^3,2 Her Social Security Number was 485-14-1406.⁴ She was born on January 22, 1924 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.^2,4 As of January, 1943,her married name was Reed.² She married Gerald Elton Reed, son of James Bruce Reed and Flossie Mary Johnson, in January, 1943.^1,2 Maxine E. VanDyke died on March 18, 2008 at Jefferson, Greene Co., Iowa, at age 84.^2,4 She Jefferson - Maxine Reed, 84, of Jefferson died Monday, March 18, 2008 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab. Burial of cremated remains will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Maxine was born January 22, 1924 in Des Moines. She graduated from North High School. Maxine married Gerald Reed in January 1943. They resided on the Eastside of Des Moines and were blessed with two sons. Maxine worked at Cascade Laundry for many years and retired with Gerald in the mid 70's. They moved to Kimberling City, MO and enjoyed many years at their home on Tablerock Lake. Maxine was a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church. She always enjoyed volunteering and working in the daycare. She loved to take care of other people. Everyone who knew Maxine will miss her jokes and little love pats. Maxine enjoyed crafts, playing cards, and had a true love for children. Maxine is survived by her sons Jerry and Steve Reed of Des Moines; her brother, Jim VanDyke of Des Moines; her sister Ruth Grebiner of Chicago, and her sister Mary of Florida; eight grandchildren, Shawn Hager, Mechele Stroud, Meloney Reed, Traci Stumbo, Chris Spicer, Amy Reed, Mike Reed and Stephen Reed; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie VanDyke; husband, Gerald; her brothers, Elmer, Robert and Larry; and her sisters, Jean and Betty. on March 30, 2008.²

     Stephen M. "Steve" Reed was buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.² He was born on May 9, 1948 at Des Moines, Polk Co., Iowa.² He died on August 20, 2015 at age 67.² He Stephen M. Reed "Blue Willie", passed away August 20, 2015. He was born May 9, 1948 to Maxine (Van Dyke) and Gerald Reed in Des Moines, Iowa. Stephen was an avid Harley Rider and an accomplished musician playing both guitar and harmonica in various blues bands in Pennsylvania. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Reed of Des Moines, IA; sons, Stephen of Williamsport, PA, and Michael of Coin, IA; daughter, Amy of Clarinda, IA; and many loving nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by both his parents; and grandparents. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date. on August 22, 2015.²
