VanDyke died on March 18, 2008 at Jefferson, Greene Co., Iowa, at age 84.2,4 She Jefferson - Maxine Reed, 84, of Jefferson died Monday, March 18, 2008 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab. Burial of cremated remains will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Maxine was born January 22, 1924 in Des Moines. She graduated from North High School. Maxine married Gerald Reed in January 1943. They resided on the Eastside of Des Moines and were blessed with two sons. Maxine worked at Cascade Laundry for many years and retired with Gerald in the mid 70's. They moved to Kimberling City, MO and enjoyed many years at their home on Tablerock Lake. Maxine was a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church. She always enjoyed volunteering and working in the daycare. She loved to take care of other people. Everyone who knew Maxine will miss her jokes and little love pats. Maxine enjoyed crafts, playing cards, and had a true love for children. Maxine is survived by her sons Jerry and Steve Reed of Des Moines; her brother, Jim VanDyke of Des Moines; her sister Ruth Grebiner of Chicago, and her sister Mary of Florida; eight grandchildren, Shawn Hager, Mechele Stroud, Meloney Reed, Traci Stumbo, Chris Spicer, Amy Reed, Mike Reed and Stephen Reed; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie VanDyke; husband, Gerald; her brothers, Elmer, Robert and Larry; and her sisters, Jean and Betty. on March 30, 2008.2

Stephen was an avid Harley Rider and an accomplished musician playing both guitar and harmonica in various blues bands in Pennsylvania. He is survived by his brother, Jerry Reed of Des Moines, IA; sons, Stephen of Williamsport, PA, and Michael of Coin, IA; daughter, Amy of Clarinda, IA; and many loving nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by both his parents; and grandparents. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date. on August 22, 2015.2
