     Cora Elizabeth Simpson Cora Simpson Shires, age 92, of Jackson, TN, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2021. Cora was born in Middleton, TN, on Friday, December 21, 1928, to the late Henry Grady Simpson, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Rogers) Simpson. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, James Everett Shires, Sr. who passed away January 15, 1971; her cherished son, James Everett Shires, Jr. who passed away on November 3, 2018; brothers, Jack Simpson, Jr. and Harold Simpson; and sisters, Jerry Whaley and Pat Elliott. Survivors include her grandsons, Michael Shires and Steven Shires and their mother, Sherri Shires all of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law Ruth Hall Simpson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Henry Simpson, III and Tim Simpson officiating with burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, TN.² She was buried at Highland Memorial Gardens, 3360 North Highland Avenue, Jackson, Madison Co., Tennessee.^2,3 She was born on December 21, 1928 at Middleton, Hardeman Co., Tennessee.² As of October, 1950,her married name was Shires.¹ She married James Everett Shires Sr., son of William Monroe Shires and Ruth F. He served in combat in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Bridger was employed with Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 40 years and was fleet manager for 28 of those years. He was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan Bridger. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Mrs. Mable Pauline Bridger; a daughter, Barbara Jean (Pat); two granddaughters, Shelley Turtle (Jason) and Amy Powell (Ryan); a step-daughter, Cheryl Samford; a step-son, Richard Dobson (Barbara); three step-granddaughters, Eleanor Dobson, Emma Dobson and Ashley Bell; four step-grandsons, Damon Bell, Nathan Bell, Caleb Bell and Cody Samford; two great-granddaughters, Ava Tuttle and Addy Tuttle; a step-great-granddaughter, Madison Bell; three step-great-grandsons, Cage Bell, Aaron Bell and Jacob Bell. Pallbearers to serve are Pat Jean, John Foster, Jimmy Laverty, Rev. Tony Kash, Charlie Isbell and Ray Dingledine. on January 31, 2008.²

     Mary Ann Hamblen was born on November 14, 1936.² As of October 9, 1954,her married name was Shires.¹ She married Charles Benjamin "Ben" Shires, son of William Monroe Shires and Ruth F. Archer, on October 9, 1954 at Jefferson Co., Texas.^1,3 Mary Ann Hamblen died on August 23, 2012 at Tennessee at age 75.³ She Mrs. Mary Ann Shires, age 75, passed away August 23, 2012 after a long and brave fight against cancer. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Charles Ben; son, Ben Kelly and daughter, Susan; grandson, John Michael, his wife Mallory, and great-granddaughter, Allie. Other family members include Harriet Presson, John and Debbie Shires, David and Niki Shires of Jackson, Mike and Martha Alwine of Austin, TX, and Don Kelly and Beverly Hamblem and their family of Houston, TX.
