He was to perform an autopsy today. Born Jan. 8, 1930, at Pocohontas, Va., Mr. White had resided for 20 years in Empire. He was a high-lift driver for Kaul Clay Co. of Toronto. He attended the Methodist Church. He leaves his widow, Mrs. June White; his father, George White of Empire; his mother, Mrs. Johnsie Francis of Virginia; four children, Donna, George, Charles and David; his paternal grandfather, Samuel White of Steubenville and his grandmother, Mrs. Charles Briggs of Old Washington, Ohio. The body was taken to Clarke Funeral Home in Toronto where funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Toronto Union Cemetery. on April 25, 1957.¹

     Marion Catherine Davis Marion E. Fowler, 65, of Empire died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville. She was born April 4, 1936, in Island Creek Township, Ohio, a daughter of the late Orland C. and Sadie M. Putnam Davis. She is survived by her husband, Gerald M. Fowler Sr., of the home, whom she married Aug. 1, 1953; five sons, Gerald M. Fowler Jr. and Herman (Sharon) Fowler, both of Wendell, N.C., Arthur Fowler of Empire, Kenneth Fowler of Stratton, and Donald Fowler of Toronto; four daughters, Regina Hampe of Stratton, Mrs. George (Annette) Tond, Kathleen Fowler and Karen Fowler, all of Empire; her stepfather, Clyde Putnam of Columbiana, Ohio; two sisters, Linda Caniff of Clearwater, Fla., and Mrs. Paul (Janet) Spooner of Lakeland, Fla; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hanze officiating.
