Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of Margaret Gruber. He was a veteran of World War II, obtaining the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force. In his earlier years, Mr. Gruber owned a crop dusting business in Ohio. After moving to the Knox area, he served as roadmaster and township supervisor in Ashland Township, Clarion County. Mr. Gruber also drove school bus for the Keystone School District. He was a Protestant. Mr. Gruber was an avid hunter and fisherman. He first married Dorothy Graff, who died in 1974. He then married Catherine MacIntyre Flannigan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William Earl Gruber Jr. of Ohio and Ronald Gruber and his wife, Lenette, of Columbus, Ohio; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Nicholas (Mary) DiFiore, Mrs. Gary (Cathy) Larkin and Mrs. James (Ann) Bell, all of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Stephen (Laura) Texter of Knox; two step sons, Edward Flannigan of Clarion and Thomas Flannigan and his wife, Stacy, of Knox; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by an aunt, Mae Wood of Hollywood, Fla. In addition to his mother and first wife, Mr. Gruber was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, Susan McCoy and Terry Ann Strohmyer; and a stepson, Joseph Flannigan. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the William N. Rupert Mortuary in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Rus ak, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, Emlenton, officiating. Interment will be in the Knox Union Cemetery. on July 27, 2000.⁶

Weible, 66, a retired box manufacturer and former Knox resident, died Wednesday at Hicksville on Long Island, N.Y. after an extended illness. Mr. Weible was born May 8, 1910 in Knox, the son of David C. and Mary Pollard Weible. he was the former vice president of Columbia Corrugated Box Manufacturing Company of Syosset, N.Y., from which he retired in 1972 due to poor health. He had lived in the Knox area for 28 years, but for the past 38 had lived at various locations in New York. He was engaged in the manufacture of corrugated boxes almost his whole life. Mr. Weible was preceded in death by his mother, but his father was remarried a number of years ago to the former Mary Whitehill who also survives. Also surviving are his wife, Mildred; a son, John Paul, of Babylon, N.Y; and a daughter, Mrs. William (Clair) Offerman of Miami, Fla. A half-brother, David Weible Jr. and a half-sister, Mrs. William (Mary Jane) Wise, both of Knox, also survive. Six grandchildren also survive. Besides his mother, Mr. Weible was preceded in death by a half-brother, Robert W. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in in the Wagner Funeral Home in Hicksville, N.Y. Interment will be on Long Island, N.Y. on November 5, 1976.⁵ He died on November 13, 1976 at Hicksville, Nassau Co., New York, at age 66.^8,5

     Florentina M. Phillips was born on January 6, 1920 at Parkman, Sheridan Co., Wyoming.¹ As of June 12, 1943,her married name was Whitehill.¹ She married Robert Wesley Whitehill, son of Clare Eugene Whitehill and Anetta Elizabeth "Nettie" Stover, on June 12, 1943 at Yellowstone Co., Montana.¹

     Harriet Helen Hunter was buried at Michigan Memorial Park, 32163 Huron River Drive, Flat Rock, Wayne Co., Michigan.³ She was born on December 1, 1912 at Buffalo, Erie Co., New York.² As of August 14, 1932,her married name was Whitehill.¹ She married Gerald Kenneth Whitehill, son of Wylie Chester Whitehill and Emma Margaret Clepper, on August 14, 1932 at Chautauqua Co., New York.^1,2 Harriet Helen Hunter died on July 18, 2008 at Coldwater, Branch Co., Michigan, at age 95.² She Harriet Helen Whitehill, of Mosherville/Jonesville, formerly of Romulus, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation Center in Coldwater. Harriet was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Harrison and Nevada Hunter. She was raised in the Oil City, Pa. area where she met and married Gerald Kenneth Whitehill Aug. 14, 1932. Harriet is survived by her son, Keith Whitehill (Marilyn); daughter, Jane Raker (Dave); son, Jim Whitehill (Betty) and nephew, Don Kinch (Donna). She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren and many friends and loved ones. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Whitehill; son, Wylie Whitehill and daughter, Dianne Summerfield. Harriet was an avid reader and loved to cook and garden. She was known as “Nanny”, “Hat”, or “Bird” by those that love her. She was also known for her hats, quick wit, poems, songs, and giving. on July 22, 2008.²
