Mrs. Sleppy was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Cooksburg, a daughter of Joseph and Kathryn Whitehill Cook. She was married Nov. 7, 1958, to Melvin John Sleppy and he preceded her to heaven. Mrs. Sleppy worked at the Glass Container plant in Marienville for many years and then went on to become a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Cooksburg before she retired. She was a member of the Helen Furnace United Methodist Church. She is survived by five children, Robin Brocious, Raymond (Becky) Cook, Gregory (Lynne) Sleppy, Melvin (Molly) Sleppy II and Sheila (Tom) LaCombe; a step-daughter, Bonda (Mike) Reitz; and 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Mrs. Sleppy was the last surviving member of her immediate family and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by six sisters, Arthusa Davis, Lucille Motter, Melissa Reabold, Imogene Swaton, Thelma Fitzgerald and Doris Bauer; three brothers, Delbert, Milo and Don Cook; a step-daughter, a grandson and a granddaughter. At her request, a private graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Scotch Hill Cemetery. on December 20, 2011.2

     Doris Adaline Cook Mrs. Doris A. Bauer, 66, of Cooksburg, died Friday morning at the Franklin hospital. Born August 19, 1927, in Cooksburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Whitehill Cook. She married Ernest F. Bauer Sr. on January 22, 1949. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1990. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1946. Mrs. Bauer was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown and was treasurer of the Cooksburg Cemetery Association. She was a member of the Alleghenny Valley Sportsman's Association. Surviving are three sons, Ernest Fredrick Bauer Jr. of Marienville, Richard Bauer of Clarington and Mark Bauer of Clarion; one daughter, Mrs. Roxann Hunt of Waterford; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Milo Cook of Leeper; two sisters, Arthusa Davis of Shippenville RD and Aletha Sleppy of Cooksburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Lucille Motter, Melissa Reabold, Imogene Swatton, and Thelma Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Delbert Cook and Donald Cook. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Borland Funeral Home in Leeper. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church in Crown. Rev.      Ernest Fredrick Bauer Sr. Ernest F. Bauer Sr., 66, of Cooksburg, died Monday morning in the West Unit of Franklin Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 4, 1923, at Lucinda, Clarion County, he was a son of the late Florian and Cora Schmader Bauer. On Jan. 22 1949, he married the former Doris A. Cook who survives. Mr. Bauer had been employed by Utility Constructors until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Crown. He also belonged to the Clarion Elks Club. Mr. Bauer was a vetran of World War II, having served in the Aleutian Islands with the Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ernest Fredrick Bauer Jr. of Marienville, Richard Bauer of Clarington, and Mark Bauer of Clarion Rd; a daughter, Roxann Hunt of Waterford; five brothers, Henry Bauer of Leeper, Raymond Bauer of Currie, S.C., Harold Bauer of Marienville, Mark Bauer of Tylersburg, and Cletus Bauer of St. Petersburg, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Bernice) Crise of Vowinkle and Mrs Ivan (Marcella) Hook of Knox; eight grandchildren, and a number of neices and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a brother Joseph Bauer, who died March 27, 1955. Friends will be received from 7 to 9pm. today and from 2 to 4 pm. and 7 to 9 pm. Wednesday at the Borland Funeral Home at Leeper. A rosary service will be held at 8 pm. today in the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown. Rev. Edward Stutz, pastor, will be the celebrant. She preceded him in death two days prior to his death. He was employed as an equipment operator/welder. Raymond was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Allison Park, PA. Raymond was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He enjoyed hunting. He is survived by a son, John Evans of Crown, PA; two brothers, Greg and Melvin Sleppy; and a sister, Robin Brocious. Also surviving are four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Donahue and a sister Sheila Lacombe. At the family's request, there will be no public viewing. A celebration of life for Ray and Becky will be held at 2 PM Saturday October 13, 2018 at the Vowinckel Hotel. Cronin in Scotch Hill; she survives. Over the years, Mr. Sleppy worked at Newport News Shipbuilding, Macbeth Cabins, and for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, until his retirement in February of 2016. He was a member of the Scotch Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and mowing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Devin Rumbarger of Leeper; a brother, Greg Sleppy and his wife, Lynne, of Tylersburg; two sisters, Bonda Reitz and her husband, Mike, of Strattanville and Robin Brocious of Leeper. Along with his parents, Mr. Sleppy is preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Rebecca Cook and a sister, Sheila Lacombe. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville PA. Interment will be in the Scotch Hill Cemetery on May 18, 2019 at 11 AM.2 He was born on June 20, 1959 at Brookville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania.2 He married Molly C.      Sheila Jean Sleppy Sheila Jean Lacombe, of Cooksburg, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Clarion Hospital. She was 52 years old. She was born Aug. 7, 1960, in Clarion, the daughter of Melvin and Aletha (Cook) Sleppy, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from East Forest High School. Sheila was a homemaker who loved cooking for her friends and family. She courageously fought the battle against cancer for more than three years. Sheila is survived by her son, Joseph Melvin Lacombe of Vowinckel and her daughter, Angel Marie Lacombe of Cooksburg as well as their father, Thomas Lacombe of Vowinckel. She is also survived by her brothers, Greg Sleppy and his wife, Lynn, of Tylersburg, John Sleppy and his wife, Molly, of Scotch Hill and Raymond Cook and his wife, Becky, of Crown. Sheila's sisters are Robin Ann Brocious of Scotch Hill, Bonda Reitz and her husband, Mike, of Strattanville, and Linda Ishman who preceded her in death. Sheila has numerous nieces and nephews who survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cancer Center at Clarion Hospital.
