     Sue Ann Fox Sue Ann Krepps, 42 of Brooklyn, OH formerly of Rockland passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 2, 2014 at Metro Health Center in Cleveland. Born January 24, 1972 in Franklin she was the daughter of Richard and Linda Harley Fox. She was a 1990 graduate of Cranberry Area High School. Sue Ann also graduated from ETI Technical College where she earned her BA in Electronic Engineering. She loved animals, especially wolves and was a member of the Cleveland Zoo where she visited frequently. Sue Ann also loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and her Jeep. On September 4, 1993, she married William Krepps in Rockland and he survives. In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by a brother; David Fox and his wife Susan of Venus; two nephews, Steven Fox and Nicholas Fox; her maternal grandmother, Betty Harley of Rockland and many aunts and uncles. Born in Hueffner, Pa., on Feb. 9, 1913, he was a son of Bert and Florence Barr Kaness. On June 25, 1960, he married the former Sylvia G. Beers, who survives. He was a farmer for 28 years. He also had worked for 19 years for the City of Oil City, in the water department, until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Kaness was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oil City. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John Slater of Homosassa Springs, Fla; five daughters, Mrs. Louis (Nora) Heber of Rouseville, Mrs. Phillip (Vicki) Schall of Oil City, Mrs. Benjamin (Gale) Taylor of New Tripoli, Beth Kaness of Oil City and Mrs. Arnold (Tammi) Manning of Meadville; two brothers, Charles Kaness of Corsica and Wayne Kaness of Rouseville; a sister, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) O’Neil of Brookville; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Slater; four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City, with the Rev. George Lockhart, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Kaness, 34, a World War II veteran, of Rouseville, died instantly at 12:15 a. m. today when the car he was driving hit a tree, overturned and caught fire about six miles east of Erie on Route 20. Lawrence Park State Police said Kaness apparently fell asleep. Harborcreek firemen extinguished the fire and extracted Kaness from the car before he was seriously burned, police said. Death was caused by a crushed chest and neck fractures, they stated. The deceased was born on Aug. 26, 1915, at Huefner, Clarion County, and was employed by the New York Central at its car repair shop in Harborcreek. Kaness served for three and one half years with the Army Engineers in the South Pacific during the recent war and was a member of the local V.F.W. Post. Besides his parents, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mabel Gesin, of Marienville: Albert, of Harborcreek; Lawrence, of Miola; Russell, Wayne and Charles, all of Rouseville; Mrs. Dorothy O'Neill, of Brookville, and Mrs. Betty Sparks, Oil City. on October 26, 1949.⁵

Kaness died on June 15, 2015 at Brookville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania, at age 96.³ She Dorothy E. O'Neill, 96, of Brookville died Monday June 15, 2015 at McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Born October 23, 1918 in Huefner, Knox Twp, Clarion Co., her parents were Bert and Florence Barr Kaness. She was a high school graduate. Dorothy was married to Howard J. O'Neill on November 7, 1939 in Fryburg, PA. She worked at Sylvania, Viesta Shoppe and Jefferson Manor as a dietary manager for 21 years. Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville. She loved to play cards. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. Surviving relatives include her daughter Cheryl (Philip) Popp of Georgia; three sons, Richard (Doris) O'Neill of Muncy, PA, Daniel (Millie) O'Neill of South Carolina, Terrence (Cathy) O'Neill of Brookville, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband Dorothy is preceded in death by six brothers, Harry, Albert, Lawrence, Russell, Ivan, Charles, and Wayne Kaness, and two sisters, Mable Kaness Gesin and Betty Kaness Sparks. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday June 18, 2015 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville with Father William Laska presiding. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co. on June 16, 2015.³

Kaness, 82, of 605 N. Petroleum St., died at 9:13 a.m. on Wednesday Jan. 28, 2004, at the Titusville Area Hospital shortly after his arrival. Mr. Kaness was born on July 13, 1921 in Huefner to the late Bert and Florence Barr Kaness. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service on Sept. 1, 1942, in Erie and was assigned to Company E Shore Battalion 543rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment Third Engineer Special Brigade. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 3, 1946, at Fort Knox, Ky., with the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. Following his discharge from the service, Mr. Kaness was employed by New York Central as an inspector. He retired from Alltel Corp. on Aug. 1, 1986, where he was a purchaser of right-a-way property for the telephone company. Mr. Kaness married Betty F. Goodwill Hasbrouck on Dec. 3, 1994, in the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Bruce Shorts Post #5958 V.F W and the Cleo J. Ross Post #368 American Legion. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was formerly an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Kaness is survived by his wife of Titusville; three daughters, Carolyn Hamilton and her husband, Mark, of Marlcle, Ind., Shirley Heinsch and her husband, William, of Woodstock, Ga., and Constance Kaness and her fiance, Grant Scarborough, of Kennesaw, Ga; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Foresther, and her husband, Kevin, of Titusville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; one sister, Dorothy O'Neill, of Brookville; one brother, Wayne Kaness, and his wife, Barbara, of Rouseville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two wives, Phyllis Frazier Kaness and June Dick Kaness; seven brothers; and two sisters. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, officiating. Kaness, 80, formerly of Rouseville, died at 12:29 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Golden LivingCenter in Titusville. Wayne was born Sept. 2, 1931, in Tylersburg, a son of the late Bert and Florence Barr Kaness. He was married Aug. 29, 1951, in Shippenville, by the Rev. Allman to Barbara E. Anthony, and she preceded him in death May 22, 2009. Wayne had been employed at the former Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. for more than 25 years until his retirement. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors and watching wildlife. He was a life member of the PNA Club in Oil City. Wayne is survived by four children, Deborah Cotton and her husband, Wilbur, of Leesburg, Fla., Kathryn Aites of Titusville, DeWayne Kaness and his wife, Violet, of Rouseville and Susan Kahnell and her husband, John, of Titusville; and four grandchildren, Mandy Marsh and husband Troy of Oil City, Chad Kahnell and wife Jennifer of Kersey, Dawn Jennerette and husband Gabe of Shippenville and Julie Mack and husband Brad of Ft. Bragg, N.C. Also surviving are five step-grandchildren, Julie Smith and husband Jim of Franklin, Brenda Morrow and husband Jim of Edinboro, Jennifer Rice and husband Tom of Franklin, Kim Boyles and husband Rick of Girard and William Whitman and wife Deana of Rouseville; and numerous great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Dorothy O'Neill of Brookville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. No public calling hours or funeral service will be conducted. Private interment will be in Union Cemetery. on January 14, 2012.¹

Evelyn worked and raised her family on the farm in Corry, Pa., for many years. The family then moved to Lottsville, Pa., and she operated Host's Grocery, then retired and moved to Wrightsville, Pa. She loved going on the yearly trips with her daughters, especially where there was a body of water and little craft shops, where she shopped until she dropped. Evelyn would listen for hours to her music and spark up the dinner table with her humor. She enjoyed collecting a large number of teapots. She was an avid crocheter and seamstress. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin B. Host, who died August 9, 1999; and a brother, Clyde E. (Dick) Gesin. Surviving are two daughters, Sandra A. (Robert) Nelson of Warren, Pa., and Sherry E. (Timothy G.) Curry of Tiona, Pa; and one son, Dell A. Host of Hanover, Pa. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carrie E. Nelson of Pittsburgh, Pa., Michael T. (Melanie) Curry of Warren, Pa., Matthew D. (Jodi) Curry of Homer City, Pa., Rachel S. Host, Crystal R. Host, Katie N. Host and Melanie E. (Christopher) Ross, all of Hanover, Pa; three great-grandchildren, Amberly, Alva and Chase Curry; a sister, Dixie Schrum of Lickinsville, Pa; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Marie Sparks; three sons, Dennis Sparks of Auburn, Ga., and Tim Sparks and Rodney Sparks, both of Fanning Springs; three daughters, Linda Teague and Sharon Cook, both of Chiefland, and Julia Makatura of Interlachen; a brother, Calvin Sparks of Oil City, Pa; a sister, Jenny LaGamba of Eagle Rock, Pa; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. on January 5, 1996.⁶
