Dorothy and John were active members of Calvary Lutheran Church where Dorothy sang in the choir. Cherished memories were made with family and friends boating on the Great Lakes, golfing, volunteering and playing bridge. These were trademark activities for Dorothy and John throughout their lives. As empty nesters, Dorothy and John designed and built their dream home on Harsens Island. Island life brought new friendships, and membership with the Harsens Island Lion’s Club. The city of Bokeelia on Pine Island, Florida had earlier become a favorite winter retreat for Dorothy and John. They entertained throughout the year and enjoyed an “island lifestyle” celebrated with all. Dorothy loved a good story, a good laugh, a good book, and great sweets. She was a kind friend, good neighbor, and famous for her creative poetry and notes signed with “Love you a bushel and a peck.” A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enriched the lives of all those around her, Dorothy will be greatly missed. on April 1, 2018.²
