Keith Winifred Ayers was buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Howard County Road #50N, Greentown, Howard Co., Indiana.3,4 He was born on October 23, 1918 at Albion, Noble Co., Indiana.2,3,4 He married Wilma Jean Rash, daughter of Durbus Brudge Rash and Cleo Bessie Campbell, on February 28, 1940 at Greentown, Howard Co., Indiana.2,4 Keith Winifred Ayers died on December 14, 2006 at Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana, at age 88.3,4 He Keith W. Ayers, 88, Greentown, died at 5:22 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Howard Regional Health System. He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Albion, the son of Robert and Margaret (Weaver) Ayers. He married Wilma Jean (Rash) Ayers on Feb. 28, 1940. They were happily married for 66 years. A proud life-long blue-collar worker, Keith spent 30 years at Chrysler Corp., where he served as union steward, shop chairman, and president of U.A.W. Local 685, before retiring in 1987. A staunch supporter of the workers and their rights, he eschewed advancement to management in order to remain a member and serve the members of the union. His efforts in this regard took him to both picket line and meeting room, and from Indiana to locations all over the country. His conviction and devotion to the union and its members remained constant throughout his professional life. He was also an active member of Jerome Christian Church. Keith was a man with a strong work ethic and unflagging energy; he was an unwavering provider for his family and an example of strength and fortitude to all. He was also quick to laugh and to enjoy the company of family and friends. He remained independent, self-supporting, and active throughout his life. Keith is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan K. and Cindy Ayers, Kokomo, and Jon and Marilyn Ayers, Greentown; as well as four grandchildren, Damon Ayers, Devin Ayers and wife Leslie, Jaclyn Ayers, and Colin Ayers. He was preceded in death by both parents; as well as four brothers, Leland, Marion "Tub," Levon, and Robert. Funeral services celebrating Keith's life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hasler-Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown, with Minister Kendall Faull officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Greentown. on December 16, 2006.4
