     Leonard Martin Rose Leonard Martin Rose, 78, of Roderfield went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Welch Community Hospital. Born June 25, 1938 in Mohegan he was the son of the late Alfred Rose and Margaret York Rose. He was a retired coalminer. He was a member of the Ark of Safety in Roderfield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Allen Rose and Leonard “Wayne” Rose Sr. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Maxie Whistlehunt Rose of the home; a son, Clinton Rose of Princeton; a daughter, Patricia Ann Rose of Roderfield; four brothers, Clifford, Darrell, Alan, and James Rose; seven sisters, Loretta, Jean, Hope, Wanda, Mary, Carol and Lois; and 5 grandchildren.      Maxie Whistlehunt Maxie Whistlehunt Rose, 75, of Roderfield, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield, WV. Born September 12, 1944 in Welch, she was the daughter of the late May and Earl Whistlehunt. She was a homemaker and member of the Ark of Safety Church in Roderfield. In addition to her parents, Maxie is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Martin Rose;and two sons, Dewayne Leonard Rose Sr. and Ricky Allen Rose. She is survived by two sons, Clinton Rose of Bluefield, WV and Leonard Dewayne (Bubby) Rose of Roderfield; one daughter, Patricia Ann Rose of Roderfield; three sisters, Thelma Riffe and husband Jessie and Veola Nierman and husband Charles all of Denver, NC and Ruby Shirley of Lincolnton, NC; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.      Leonard Dewayne “Wayne” Rose Sr. was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 3410 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.³ He Leonard Dewayne “Wayne” Rose, Sr., 47, of Roderfield passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his home. Born September 27, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of Leonard M. Rose and Maxie Whistlehunt Rose of Roderfield. Before becoming disabled he was a factory worker in North Carolina. He attended the Ark of Safety in Roderfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Allen Rose. In addition to his parents he is survived by a son, Leonard D. Rose, Jr. of Roderfield; two daughters, Samantha Mae Rose of Gastonia, NC and Elizabeth Rose of Marion, NC; a brother, Clinton Rose of Princeton; a sister, Patricia Ann Rose of Roderfield; and 5 grandchildren. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.³ He was born on September 27, 1968 at Detroit, Wayne Co., Michigan.³ He died on December 31, 2015 at Roderfield, McDowell Co., West Virginia, at age 47.³

     Rev. James Alfred Rose Rev. James Alfred Rose, 73, of Powhatan, WV, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born September 13, 1947 in Freeburn, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Alfred and Margaret York Rose. James was a retired coal miner and retired minister and had a radio program in Welch where he preached the Gospel. James was a member of Longepoint Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Franklin, Norma Jean Wolford, and Loretta Gross; brothers, Darrell Jesse Rose, and Leonard Rose. Those left to cherish James' memory are his wife Wanda Lee Eastep Rose; sons, Rodney Rose of Tazewell, VA, and Chris (Lucia) Rose of WV; daughters, Teresa Auton of Princeton, WV, and Judy Stovall (Joseph) of Snow Camp, NC; brothers, Alan Rose and Clifford Rose, both of Michigan; sisters, Lois Prater of Michigan, Ruth Blankenship of Michigan, Wanda Rice of Tennessee, Mary Rose Goff Riffe of Beckley, WV, and Hope Gilliland of Kentucky; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.      Carol Sue Rose was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 3410 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.⁴ She Carol Sue Franklin, 76, of Big Sandy, West Virginia passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the residence of her sister in Beckley, West Virginia. Carol was born on February 15, 1943 in Freeburn, Kentucky to the late Alfred and Margaret York Rose. She had been a resident of Big Sandy, West Virginia for the past 60 years. In addition to her parents Carol was preceded in death by her son, Richard Corey Franklin; one brother, Leonard Rose. Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Franklin of the home; brothers, Clifford Rose and wife Betty of Wales, Michigan; James Rose and wife Wanda of Powhatan, West Virginia; Darrell Rose of Canton, Michigan; Allen Rose of Hazel Park, Michigan; Sisters, Norman Wolford of Romulus, Michigan; Lorretta Gross of Majestic, Kentucky; Lois Prater of Canton, Michigan; Ruth Blankenship of Romulus, Michigan; Wanda Rice and husband Bill of Marysville, Tennessee; Mary Riffe and husband Britton of Beckley, West Virginia and Hope Gilliland and husband Frank of Stopover, Kentucky. Two grandchildren Richard Gabriel Franklin of Idaho and Hunter Franklin of Big Sandy, West Virginia.      Earl Evins Gross Earl E. Gross age 79, of Phelps, Ky departed this life Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at his home. He was born June 7, 1934 at Majestic, KY a son of; the late Jessie F. & Patsy Coleman Gross. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by 6 sisters, 3 brothers & 2 stepchildren. For most of his life Earl was a driver; truck driver in the coal industry, school bus driver & in the sixties an ambulance driver for Alice & Haskel Mullins at the Phelps Funeral Home. He was also a deputy sheriff who loved music & playing the guitar.
Survivors include his former wife; Loretta Gross, sister; Hazel (David "Spike" ) Mosley, 4 stepchildren & a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors & friends.

     Joseph Rose Joseph Rose, 57, of Loudonville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, in Loudonville. He was born June 3, 1951, in Freeburn, Ky. Mr. Rose was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Loudonville Baptist Church and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother and loving son and enjoyed spending time with his grandson. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Anita L. Rose; sons, Joe C. (Kelly) Rose and Chase C. Rose; daughters, Rebecca L. Rose and Carli S. Stoops; grandson, David L.S.
