Born in Burke County, NC on January 17, 1950, she was the daughter of the late George Huntley and Josephine Weatherman Godwin. Direnda was a member of Morganton Freedom Church of God. She was a happy woman who loved to craft, crotchet, knit, watch Dale Earnhardt NASCAR, and traveling to the beach. She dearly loved her family. Direnda is survived by her brother, George Huntley, Jr; step-brothers, Bryant Huntley (Regina) and Larry King; step-sister, Debbie King; aunts, Wanda Childers and Jean Moore; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her siblings in Christ, Jimmy and Judy Church. In addition to her parents, Direnda was preceded in death by her step-father, Marvin Godwin; step-mother, Martha Huntley; step-brother, Freddy King; aunts, Delores Stacy (Kelly) and Darrell Weatherman (Mary); and uncle, Bill Childers. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.2 She was born on January 17, 1950 at Burke Co., North Carolina.1,2 She died on January 13, 2023 at Burke Co., North Carolina, at age 72.2

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Home, Hinton. Burial will be in Bolen Family Cemetery, Jumping Branch. on December 31, 1989.2

Born Jan. 28, 1924, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Mary Via Williams. Mrs. Reed lived all her life in Summers County. She was a homemaker and a member of Beach Run Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Jack and Bill Williams; and an infant sister. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Ray Reed; two sons, Doug Reed and his wife, Becky, of Covington, Va., and David Reed and his wife. Ellen, of Hinton; two daughters, Jane Ratliff and her husband. Jerry, of Covington and Betty Crook and her husband, Orville, of Chesapeake, Va; three brothers, Hubert Williams of Nimitz, James Williams of Beech Run, Hinton, and Robert H. Williams Jr. of Orange, Va; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, with the Revs. Elmo Alderman Sr. and William Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. on February 12, 1999.2
