Andrew "Andy" Dyk1,2

M, b. September 17, 1930, d. January 31, 2017
Andrew "Andy" Dyk was buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ellensburg, Kittitas Co., Washington.1 He was born on September 17, 1930 at Manhattan, Gallatin Co., Montana.1,2 He married Evelyn Dee Whited, daughter of Hugh Oliver Whited and Gladys Enola Drohman, on December 31, 1947.1,2 Andrew "Andy" Dyk died on January 31, 2017 at Scottsdale, Maricopa Co., Arizona, at age 86.2 He Andrew Dyk, 86, of Ellensburg, Washington passed away January 31st at Honor Health Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. One of 12 children, Andy was born on September 17, 1930 in Manhattan, Montana to Dutch immigrants Hiram and Jennie Dyk. He moved to the Kittitas Valley with his family in 1938 where he attended school and eventually met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Whited (12/31/1947). Andy and Evelyn farmed in the Badger Pocket for several years before moving to Moses Lake for a short time, then settled in 1954 on their farm on the west side of the Kittitas Valley. They raised their family of 5 boys and 1 girl, farming and ranching until the late 80's when 4 of the boys continued the farming operations, as Andy went to work at Huppert Farm & Lawn selling farm equipment for several years. Andy was a lifelong member of the CMA (now Mercer Creek Church) and served in many different positions over the years. He was very instrumental in the growth of the church whether with his time, financial support or his wisdom. His incredible dedication to his faith and his church was unwavering. He served on many boards over the years including various agriculture organizations and the Thorp School District, to name a few. In retirement, he and Evelyn began going south to the Phoenix area in their various RV's in the winter and enjoyed their time in the sun while meeting other retirees from all over the country. They joined a group called the "Sowers" which is a group of retirees that have RV's and travel to various places and volunteer their time helping churches with building or maintenance projects. They continued this for many years, always making sure they were home in the summer so he could "help" the boys farm and teach the grandkids the proper way to bale hay. He is survived by his sons: John (Carol) Dyk, Mel (Cindy) Dyk, Bud (Nana) Dyk, Ken (Kristie) Dyk, Arie (Angela) Dyk and his daughter Sandy (Tom) Morris; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Henrietta and Francie; brother Pete; along with his very special and dear friend, Sally Panattoni. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn; parents Hiram and Jennie Dyk; 8 siblings and his grandson, AJ Dyk. on February 5, 2017.2
