In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Conner in 2010; and a sister, Thalia Horsley. He was an Army veteran, and retired from DuPont with more than 34 years of service in the maintenance section. He was a member of Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are two sons, Ernest “Ernie” Conner of South Hill and Ronald Conner of Richmond; one brother, Raymond Conner of Martinsville; sister, Norma Jean Smith of Reidsville, N.C; and three grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Roselawn Burial Park with the Revs. Barry Crumpton and Gerald Pearce officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for one hour before the graveside service at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home. B. Boothe at Oakvale. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Lonnie Hollingsworth and the Rev. C. D. Dooley and interment will be in the Monte Vista Cemetery. Mrs. McGhee was born at Tip Top, Va., and lived in Bluefield for 30 years. Her husband, Ahab McGhee, died in 1931. In addition to Mrs. Boothe, she is survived by the following children, M. W. McGhee, Oakvale, Mrs. Vivian Neal, Radford, David McGhee, Radford, Mrs. Dorothy Gayheart, Baltimore, Md., 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body was removed from the Johnston Funeral Home at Oakvale to the residence of Mrs. Boothe yesterday afternoon and will be placed in the church one hour before the service. on May 26, 1953.6
