He was a beloved son, brother, and grandson, a loving father, and a tremendous friend. He enjoyed farming, working with cattle, and playing cards. He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Earl & Ruth Huffman, Ned & Pauline Dowdy, Oris & Pearl Johnson; grandfather, Norris L. Tripp; special great-uncles and aunt, H.T. & Jane Hurd and R. Hale Dowdy. He is survived by parents, Robert L. & Shari H. Tripp; daughter, Kenadee Tripp and her mother Heather Stover; sister & brother-in-law, Justin & Ashlei Barham; grandparents, W.O. “Chuck” & Peggy Huffman; grandmother, Violet Tripp; nephews, Oscar & Gunner Barham; special cousins, Joseph & Matthew Dowdy; special friends, Ricky Williams & Myra Williams. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church, New Castle, Virginia. Dwayne graduated from New Castle High School, where he played basketball and baseball. Dwayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, H. R. and Lottie Hughes and Robert and Esterleen Crawford; uncles, J. B. Hughes, Roger Crawford, Herman Short and R. J. Caldwell. Dwayne is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Wayne and Pat Crawford of New Castle, Virginia; aunts, Anita Hughes, Geneva Short, Nora (Sissy) Caldwell and Jennifer Crawford. He is also survived by many cousins and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Clifford Nottingham, Julie Legualt and the staff of Friendship Health and Rehab 1 South and 3 Main for their loving care and compassion for Dwayne during the last 20 years. She was a homemaker, and attended the Methodist church. Surviving are two sons, Ben Neeley, Bedford, and Robert Neeley, Crane; five daughters, Nina Kinzer, Mount Clemons, MI, Reba Chambers, Betty Hiestand, Wilma Magnus and Shirley Foddrill, all of Bedford; two sisters, Ruby Pastrick, Bedford, and Viola Eagle of Illinois; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two half sisters, Hattie May Williams and Mollie Burchett; four sons, Clarence Neeley, Wayne Lee Neeley, Danny Joe Neeley and an infant; two brothers, Paris Hines and Otis Hines; and one half brother, Dr. Ben Hines. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. on June 23, 1993.⁶
