Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Kevin Holton, of Tulsa; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Danielle Connor, of Edmond; one sister and brother-in-law, Annette and John Jr. Curry, Hurleyville, New York; two brothers and sister-in-law, Carl Baker, of McAlester, and James and Margaret Connor, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and six grandchildren, Matthew Pratt, Elizabeth Pratt, Daniel Gilbert Jr., Isabelle Gilbert, Brayden Holton and Micheal Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Anna Connor. Pallbearers will be David Thomas, Roy Thomas, Tommy Connor, Denson Cable, Joseph Hernandez and Larry Sutton. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrzej Mielnick, David Wright and Jerry Wilkerson. on November 17, 2014.1

County attorney Hugh McCollum said Cyril Connor, 39, was found here about 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Connor was charged at McAlester with the death of Harold D. Pennington, Fort Worth, a few years ago at a McAlester drive-in theater. He was tried once but his trial ended in a hung jury. Connor's body was in one of the two taverns he operates here. The body with a bullet wound in the heart, was found by Ray Ireland, 30, McAlester, McCollum said. The attorney said Ireland told investigators he arrived in Shawnee about 10 a.m. Sunday for an appointment with Connor and finally discovered his body after entering a tavern window. A 32 year old waitress is to be questions in connestion with the death, McCollum said. Connor was recently quizzed about a fire bombing in the area, McCollum said. Connor had a police record and was a known gambler, McCollum said. on July 17, 1961.4

Born Aug. 24, 1920, in McAlester, she was the daughter of John and Anna Robin (Allen) White. She grew up in Adamson and went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1942. She worked there until she married Henry "Hank" Connor, which was on Feb. 8, 1947 in Seminole. They had lived in Dow since that time. She was a charter member of the Dow United Methodist Church. She worked on the Election Board for many years and was a volunteer 4-H leader at Dow school for more than 10 years. She was well known in the area for her quilting and cooking, especially her yeast rolls, cinnamon rolls, pies and fried chicken. In 1990 she decided to finish her high school education and returned to school and earned her GED diploma at the age of 70. Aside from her family, her real enjoyment came from supporting Haileyville School athletics. She and her husband were two of the biggest fans, rarely missing any event, and offered their support for many years. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Penny Connor, of Dow; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pattie Sue and Dennis Landers, of Fort Gibson, Robin Ann and Max Coverdell, of Locust Grove, and Mickey Jo and David Duncan, of Dibble; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Ed Connor and his wife, Dottie, Duluth, Minn. Pallbearers will be Kevin Connor, Chuck Coverdell, Andy Coverdell, Dalton McCullar, Dylan McCullar, and Bryce Dicus. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy DeFrange, Jason Semeski, Luke Mitchell, Chris Christian, and Chase Coverdell. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 21, 2006; a son, Henry Connor Jr; her parents, and five brothers, James, Ted, Jack, Skip and Tommy White. on February 18, 2008.3

Arrangements are under the direction of Locust Grove Funeral Home. Born Dec. 3, 1953, in McAlester, she was the daughter of Hank and Hazel (White) Connor. She attended Dow Elementary school, and graduated from Haileyville High School in 1972. She continued her education by attending Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She went on to graduate from Rogers State University in Claremore with a bachelor's degree in business. She married Max Coverdell on Oct. 17, 1975, in Locust Grove, and together, they made Locust Grove their home for more than 38 years. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Locust Grove. She worked with children in Sunday school and children's church for more than 30 years. She was involved with the ladies that oversaw kitchen and cooking ministries. She enjoyed time spent 4-wheeling. She also treasured spending time at the creek with her husband, friends, and family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and the time spent with them. Survivors include her husband, Max, of the home; two sons, Andy Coverdell and wife, Diana, of Moore, and Chuck Coverdell and wife, Ginger, of Locust Grove; two sisters, Patty Landers and husband, Dennis, of Fort Gibson, and Mickey Jo Duncan and husband, David, of Oklahoma City; one brother, Robert "Bob" Connor and wife, Penny, of Dow; one brother-in-law, Lewis Coverdell and wife, Celeste, of Locust Grove; mother-in-law, Marie Coverdell, of Locust Grove; father-in-law, Waco Coverdell and Cathy Bence, of Locust Grove; four grandchildren, Chase, Rachel, Sara and Haylee; eight nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. on August 12, 2014.3

He was seriously wounded by the enemy in North Korea on April 11, 1951 and returned to duty on April 21, 1951. He was seriously wounded again on September 4, 1951 and died of those wounds later that day. Sergeant First Class Connor was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.7 He was born on September 27, 1926 at Dow, Pittsburg Co., Oklahoma.1,5,10 He married Mary Maxine Emerson on September 28, 1946 at McAlester, Pittsburg Co., Oklahoma.4 Billy Joe Connor died on September 4, 1951 at North Korea at age 24.1,10,6,7

He was a lifetime member of McAlester Masonic Lodge No. 96 of McAlester, the Scottish Rite and Shrine in McAlester, and the Lakeside Chapter No. 225 Order of Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Cyril, Henry, Billy Joe and Thomas Walter. Memorial services will follow the visitation at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth. Arrangements are under the direction of Dougherty Funeral Home of Duluth. on January 7, 2016.2

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Friday) at the Wickenburg Chapel for Anton Rubash, widely known mining man of this community, who passed away at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Community Hospital. Dr Charles S. Poling will officiate and burial will be in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Rubash, who was a hard rock miner in the old Octave Mine from 1936 until 1941, had been in ill health for nearly 12 years and had been hospitalized frequently in recent years. He was born August 28, 1887, in Chadron, Neb., and worked in coal mines in Oklahoma before coming to this section in 1936. He had many friends throughout this area and was highly regarded by all. Ten children survive. They are Arthur, Anton, Jr., Danny and Jimmy, all of Wickenburg; Mrs. Ethel Monroe of McAlester, Okla; Mrs. Ruby McLaughlin of Phoenix; Grover of Cortez, Colo; Mrs. Helen Carter of Holbrook, Ariz; Mrs. Phyllis Onstott of Adak, Alaska, and Mrs. DorIa Onstott of San Diego, Calif. One brother, Joe Rubash of Pensacola, Fla., also survives, and the surviving sisters are Mrs. Annie McCutcheon of McAlester, and Mrs. Ethel Sumpter and Mrs Mary Smith, both living in California. Twenty-one grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Rubash passed away in 1947. on December 24, 1954.5

She was preceded in death by her husband, Erbert Connor; son, Charles Connor; parents, Willard and Louise Cook, and two sisters, Mattie Lee Pinson and Juanita Sexton Warren. on December 18, 2014.1

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne with Lonnie Clunn officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne. Born June 29, 1942, in Haileyville, he was the son of Erbert and Mary Kathryn (Cook) Connor. He was a lifelong resident of Haileyville and graduated from Haileyville High School. He married Alice Susan Anderson on Feb. 20, 1965, in Haileyville. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a brakeman and also at Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester and last for OAI in Hartshorne in security. He also served a six year enlistment in the Oklahoma National Guard. He was a member of Haileyville Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Alice Connor, of Haileyville; son, David Ray Connor and wife, Angela, of Coalgate; daughter, Brenda Sue Todd and husband, Michael, Fort Smith, Ark; mother, Mary Kathryn Cook Connor, of Hartshorne; sister, June Riley, of Hartshorne, and six grandchildren. on March 28, 2013.2
