He was a son of Alfred and Ruth Tyree, Elyria, who moved there from about one year ago. Larry and two boys were flying kites in the yard of one of his friends. One of the boys was holding the kite with the wire when he felt a shock and dropped it. His life, was saved, it is believed, because he was wearing rubber tennis shoes. Larry, not knowing why the kite dropped, grabbed it to keep it in flight. He took a step backward and fell to the ground. An ambulance was called to take the boy to the hospital, but his mother insisted he be taken immediately. The boy and his mother were put in a car and started for the hospital. The car was involved in a collision with a truck and the mother was injured, although not seriously. Meanwhile, the hospital ambulance, summoned first, developed a broken axle. However, another ambulance called to the of the car wreck arrived and took the boy and his mother to the hospital. Larry pronounced dead. on April 17, 1956.4
