Thoms of Coulterville and Frank Thoms and wife, Marie, of Metropolis; two daughters, Linda and Carolyn Thoms, both of Coulterville; one sister, Elizabeth Peeler of Seattle, Wash; two grandchildren, Frederick Dean Thoms and Mary Elizabeth Canup; and a great-grandchild, Karyn Canup. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Catherine Halliman; seven brothers, William, Clarence, Thomas, Dennis, Leonard, and James, and a brother in childhood. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Coulterville. Private family services will be Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Clara Benson officiating. Interment will be in the Coulterville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. on July 13, 2002.⁵

She married William Lawless Sept. 9, 1929, in Perry County. He preceded her in death April 5, 1970. Survivors include two sons, James of Coulterville and William of Kansas ; one daughter Mrs. Louise (Donald) Muskopf of Belleville; ten grandchildren ; and four greatgrandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Coulterville. Burial will be in the Coulterville Cemetery. on May 23, 1982.²

She was a homemaker and caregiver and took care of everyone. Survivors include two sons, Leonard Lawless Jr. and wife, Margie, of Swanwick and Dennis Lawless and wife, Marilyn, of Maryville, Ind; a daughter, Carolyn Phelps and husband, Lynn, of Coulterville; one brother, Howard Frieman of Coulterville; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two grandsons, Michael and David. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Coulterville, with Pastor Tom Foster officiating. Burial will be in Coulterville City Cemetery. on August 2, 2007.¹
