McNally came to this country with a sister when he was about 16 years old. He formerly operated a hardware and saddlery shop in Coalgate and was once a guard at the state penitentiary, McAlester. He was a member of the catholic church. He is survived by two sons, Charles J. McNally, Midwest City, and Dan McNally, Wewoka; five daughters, Mrs. Bertha Cotten, also of Wewoka; Mrs. Catherine Phillips, Corpus Christie, Texas; Mrs. Mary Logan, Fort Smith, Ark; Mrs. Carlotta Edler, Crosbyton, Texas, and Mrs. Robena Bennett, Purcell. Fifteen grandchildren also survive. Services will be announced by Garrison Funeral Home. on August 17, 1948.7

Bertha grew up and attended school in Coalgate and graduated in McAlester. For the past five years Bertha made her home with her niece, Geraldine, Embree of Pauls Valley. Funeral services for Ms. Cotton are scheduled for Friday July 7 at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Church- Konawa with Father Matthew Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Okla., under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Williams, pastor, conducted. King Funeral Home directed arrangements. Mrs. Edler, 61, was claimed by death at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday of last week in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock. She entered Crosbyton Clinic Hospital three weeks prior to her death and was transferred a week later to the Lubbock hospital, where she was a patient two weeks. Mrs. Edler had suffered a stroke March 5. For 11 years prior to her retirement, Carlotta Edler was a nurse at Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. Born February 1, 1914 in Colgage, Okla., the former Carlotta Helena McNally became the bride of Earl Edler on August 28, 1936. The couple was married in Tyler, where the bride was attending business college. They moved here after their marriage. The Edler home was in Big Four community. The deceased was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl Edler; one daughter, Ms. Connye Martin of Cartwright, Okla; three grandchildren, Jimmy Earl Martin, Debra Kay Martin and Raymond Dwayne Martin, all of Cartwright, Okla; two brothers, Dan McNally of Wewoka, Okla., and Charles McNally of Midwest City, Okla; and four sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Cassidy of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Bertha Cotton of Wewoka, Okla., Mrs. Rowena Campbell of Lexington, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Logan of Fort Smith, Ark. on August 14, 1975.3

She was born Feb. 22, 1917 in Coalgate, the seventh of eight children born to Charles McNally and Pauline (Hunt) McNally. As a child she was reared in Coalgate and McAlester and her high school years were spent in Wewoka. She married Lester Bennett in 1934 and the couple had five children while living in Purcell. She married Oran Campbell in 1956 and the couple had one daughter. They lived in Lexington for 20 years and later moved back to Purcell in 1981. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell and active in the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one daughter, Paula Wall; four sisters, Catherine, Carlotta, Mary and Pauline; two brothers, Charles and Dan McNally; infant twin grandchildren, Dewayne and Dwight and one great-granddaughter, Arianna. Survivors include four daughters, Geraldine Embree of Pauls Valley, Joan Yates and her husband, Willie, of Purcell, Glenda Contreras and her husband, Larry, of Miami, Ariz., and Bertha Skeryance and her husband, Tony, of The Woodland, Texas; one son, Richard Bennett and his wife, Jean, of Purcell; one step-son, Gene Campbell of Purcell; one sister, Bertha Cotton of Pauls Valley; two sisters-in-law, Alleyene McNally of Broken Arrow and Maxine McNally of Wewoka; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.4 Her Social Security Number was 447-32-9505.1 She was born on February 22, 1917 at Coalgate, Coal Co., Oklahoma.1,5,4 As of July 31, 1934,her married name was Bennett.6 She married Lester Duel Bennett on July 31, 1934 at Seminole Co., Oklahoma.6,4 As of 1956,her married name was Campbell.4 Robena Cecelia McNally married Oran A. Phillips, Mrs. Phillips and their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jack Phillips, were on their way to Lamar, Colo., to attend funeral services for Mrs. Jack Phillips' father when their car was in collision with another near Tulia. Mrs. Phillips is in a Tulia hospital for treatment of a broken arm and a broken foot. Mrs. Jack Phillips underwent surgery in an Amarillo hospital yesterday for a broken jaw. Both are making satisfactory progress, it was reported this morning. Although details of the accident are not known, it is believed that Phillips received chest and head injuries. His son Jack, who arrived in Tulia yesterday, from Camp Chaffee, said the Corpus Christi man's body will be sent here for burial. Warren Phillips was born Nov. 23, l890, in Salem, Ark., to Charles A. and Kate J. Tunstall Phillips. The family moved to Oklahoma and Phillips attended high school and college there. He also attended Meridian College in Mississippi. He married Catherine McNally of Holdenville, Okla., in 1927. His children are Oren, Corpus Christi attorney; Jack, who is stationed with the Army in Camp Chaffee, Ark; Mrs. F. L. Fleming, Jr., of Pleasantville, N.J., and Mrs. W. W. Fowler of Kerrville. Phillips served in the Oklahoma National Guard in the Snake Indian War in 1909. A Roman Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Phillips had lived in Texas 17 years. He had practiced law since he was admitted to the Oklahoma bar in 1913. He was admitted to the Texas bar in 1932. on December 10, 1951.5 He died on December 10, 1951 at Tulia, Swisher Co., Texas, at age 63.2,5

Lt. Col. John Homer "Jack" Phillips Lt. Col. John H. (Jack) Phillips, 84, passed away at his Montgomery home Saturday evening, August 9th after a short illness. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his outspoken sense of humor, his resilience and his love of life. Despite many medical obstacles, he remained active and self-sufficient until the weeks preceding his death. Jack’s 23 year career in the Army saw 1 tour of duty in Korea (UNPAK 40th Infantry Division – 1953) and 3 tours of Vietnam (MACV – 1963, 1st Cavalry – 1965-66 and 17th Cavalry – 1968-69). His career had many remarkable achievements including a stint as personal assistant to General William Westmoreland, time as a rotary wing and fixed wing pilot, paratroop instructor at Ft. Benning and as a member of the Special Forces. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, multiple Purple Hearts and numerous other commendations. After leaving the military, his life gradually took a more relaxed pace and he spent time dabbling in many interests including business interests in farming, automotive and real estate. Jack is survived by his two sons, John E. Phillips (Marinette) and James C. Phillips, niece Reagan Long (Joey), nephews Robert Fleming (Harriet) and Mike Fleming (Patrice) as well as family and friends in Texas and Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and shared a special bond with her children Shane Stanwitz (Carole) and Terry Talley and her grandchildren. He will always have a special place in his heart for his mother-in-law Bobbie McGray and her family. He also held dear his friend Mozelle Rollins. The visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel Friday August 15th from 5pm to 7pm. A graveside service will be held at St. Margaret’s Cemetery Saturday August 16th at 11am. The graveside service will be casual dress.4 He was buried at Saint Margarets Cemetery, 1304 Upper Wetumpka Road, Montgomery, Montgomery Co., Alabama.4 He married Peggy Joyce McGray.7,4 Lt. Col.
