He served in the U.S. Army and then the National Guard in West Virginia and Iowa. He married Mary Elizabeth Jones May 24, 1962 in Parishburg, Va. They moved to Sioux City in February 1963. He was employed as manager of McDonalds Morningside location for more than 27 years, and for the past 12 years he had been employed with MCI. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the National Rifleman's Association. Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Michael and Marsha Bedwell of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Michelle and Scott Klemmensen of Sloan, Iowa; five grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Bedwell, Nikole, Austin and Brandon Klemmensen; a sister and her husband, Darlene and Mike Biddle of Blair, Neb; his mother-in-law, Dora Jones of Beckley; a brother-in-law, James Jones of Beckley; and three nieces. Pallbearers will be Virgil Klemmensen, Tony Pierce, Mark Camerer, Mike Porter, Dennis Brown, and Tom Keegan. on July 10, 2000.2
