Jack Nelson, Sr., 68, of Lady Lake, FL, died Wednesday, August 30, 2000. Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Helen Nelson and a son, John P. Nelson, Jr. Born on October 29, 1931, in Jersey City, NJ, Jack moved to Florida at a young age and lived there most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Oriskany aircraft carrier and retired from NARDAC, NAS Pensacola, FL, as a computer specialist in 1993. He has spent his retirement years in Lady Lake, FL, enjoying golf course living. Jack was a member of St. George Episcopal Church in The Villages of Lady Lake. Survivors include his wife, Anne Meek Nelson of Lady Lake; two daughters, Diane Carpenter and her husband, Craig, and Judi Spayde, all of Long Beach, MS; grandchildren, Evan Carpenter and Jillian Spayde of Long Beach; stepdaughters, Shannon Eicher of Pensacola, FL, and Shelly Stein of Columbia, LA; and stepgrandchildren, Michael, Bobby, Danielle and Wayne. Funeral services will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Pensacola, FL, 100 Beverly Pkwy. on Friday, September 1, 2000, at 12:30. Friends may call at Faith Chapel at 11:30. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice. on August 31, 2000.2

He was born October 2, 1934, in Ward to the late Orville and Arizona Hudnall. He attended grade school and junior high school in Ward. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 3rd Division - 11th Battalion Armored Cavalry Regiment. He was a retired supervisor for Ashland Oil (Super America), and former owner/operator of The Red Head Station on East Washington Street, Charleston. He was known to everyone as "Red;" many people knew him as Marvin; and many others knew him as PaPa Hudnall, even if they were not his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline Rice, June Dalton and Lucille Casto. He is survived by sons, Johnnie Ray Hudnall of Inman, S.C., and Jeffrey Hudnall (Elizabeth) of Elkview; four grandchildren, Brittany, Lindsey, Ashley and Hunter Hudnall; one great-grandson, Brayden Carnes; sister, Bobbie Bess of Nitro; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at Myers Funeral Home, Elkview with the Rev. David Bess officiating. Burial will be in Clendenin Memorial Gardens, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. on May 9, 2012.4

Bobbie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lowell; her sons and their wives, David and Jackie of Nitro, Terry and Maria of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, Rebekah Marshall of St. Albans, Cecilia (Chris) Trevino of White Sands, N.M., Abigail (Cameron) Temple of St. Albans; grandsons, Peter Bess (Rebecca) of Butler, Pa. and Terry Bess Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Elizabeth and Nathan Marshall of St. Albans, Jennibelle and Christopher Trevino of White Sands, N.M., Mackenzie and Charis Temple of St. Albans; special sons, Jack Higginbotham of Nitro and Mike (Joan) Isble of Scott Depot; and special daughters, Pam Hatfield and Deloris Willard, both of Nitro. Bobbie's family want to acknowledge the special care given by Marilyn Campbell, Debbie Steffick and Jeff and Alesha from Mt. Home Care. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tues. Oct. 6, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Pastor Terry Hogue officiating. Burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
