Mr. Epperly was born May 28, 1929, in Fayetteville, W.Va., the son of the late Luden and Elsie (Perry) Epperly. He was a residential program worker for the Connecticut School for the Blind and had formerly worked for Maumee Chemical Plant in Ohio, Sherwin Williams in Danbury and Ware Chemical in Stratford. He was the former owner of Archeries in Wallingford. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, as well as an archery instructor, and was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Waterbury. Mr. Epperly is survived by a son, Richard Brian Epperly of New York; two daughters, Lisa Steiner of New Hampshire and Rebecca Rudge of Arizona. He leaves several nieces and nephews, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild — as well as his companion, Michelle Carraro of Naugatuck. He is predeceased by a daughter, Debra Epperly; and three brothers, John Epperly, Marshall Epperly and Wilbur Epperly. Funeral services will be on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 16 Church St. in Waterbury. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave., on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. on July 18, 2001.5

Flora was a remarkable woman who gave her heart to those around her and was constantly lending a hand to people in need. Flora is survived by her daughter Nita, son Jay Schrader, brother Bill Schrader, sisters Sue Carlisle and Jerry Taylor and granddaughters Ali and Holly Schrader. She is also survived by her other children, her cats. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the angels at Hospice of Palm Beach County for providing her such compassionate care.
