Wayne Jones, 88, of Brazil, passed away unexpectedly, in Osgood, Ind., on April 8, 2009. He was born in Carbon on May 28, 1920, to Roy Edward and Bertha Josephine (White) Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1938. Following high school, he worked for Nehi Beverage Company until being drafted into the United States Army in 1941. He served in England during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1945. He married Margaret Anne Fisher on Nov. 4, 1944; she preceded him in death in 2002. Upon his return from the military, he worked as a Prudential Insurance agent in Brazil and Greencastle. He also worked as a purchasing agent for IBM in Greencastle and in Boca Raton, Fla., until retiring in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2, in Brazil, where he was active in the Color Guard as well as a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1550, in Greencastle, where he served as Past Commander. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge 274, in Brazil, where he served as Past Worthy President in 1950. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 541, in Brazil, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1077, in Greencastle, and was active in Greencastle Little League Baseball from its inception until 1973. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Anne Jones; brothers, Charles W. Jones and Richard M. Jones in infancy and Roy Jones Jr. in 1976; son, Norman P. Jones in 2007. Survivors include a son, Wayne L. Jones of Greencastle; two daughters, Suzanne Osborn and husband Carl of Danville, Ind. and Josephine J. Jones of Osgood; grandchildren, Meghan Fox and husband Eric, Jennifer Luczywo and husband Brian, Lora Stouder and husband Andrew, and Amy Martin and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lawson-Miller Chapel and Crematory with the Rev. Andrew Stouder officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127 and American Legion Post 2 as well as members of the United States Army. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hoosier Boy's State; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. on April 9, 2009.4
