His death followed a short illness.Nye was born on June 27, 1920, in Paris, Ill. He was one of five boys born to Charley and Noma Fulton Bouslog.He graduated from Paris High School in 1938 and the University of Illinois in 1944.He married Joan Curl on July 19, 1945. She preceded him in death on May 2, 2011. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in the summer of 2010.Nye served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. He was part of the Western defense command and occupation forces in Europe at the end of the war.Nye and Joan had four children, Carol Koestner of Macomb, Steve (Carla) Bouslog of Princeton and John (Jill) Bouslog of Urbandale, Iowa. Their daughter Lynn Bouslog died in 1997 in a tragic accident.He will be lovingly remembered by his children, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.In addition to Joan and their daughter Lynn, he was preceded in death by his parents and all four brothers, Dane of Chrisman, Victor of Paris, Allen of Urbana and Donald of Chrisman.Nye and Joan moved to Macomb in 1946. Nye served as the farm advisor for the U of I Extension Service. He later worked for the UnionNational Bank of Macomb, rising to the position of executive vice president. It was during his tenure he earned distinction as a business man, agricultural leader and a community volunteer.Following his banking career, he worked for the U of I and was active in the Macomb real estate market, having ended his real estate career at the age of 90.Nye belonged to the Macomb Rotary Club for over 64 years. He earned the Lifetime Outstanding and Dedicated Service Award in 1995. He served as district governor in 1980-1981. He was also past president and a Paul Harris Fellow. Nye served on the Board of Directors for Union National Bank and the State Bank of Industry.He was a member of the Macomb Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 6, Macomb Country Club, Lamoine Valley Board of Realtors and the W.I.U. Foundation. He was a contributing writer for the Prairie Farmer magazine for 25 years. He also served 12 years on the Board of Education for the Macomb Public Schools. Nye has been an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Parish Council and St. Paul Cemetery Board.Nye's family would like to thank the physicians and staff of St. Francis Hospital and Heartcare Midwest for their care and compassion during his illness. It was sincerely appreciated.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A wake service will be held following the visitation. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery with military rites.Memorial contributions may be made to the Macomb Rotary Club Park Project on West Jackson Street in Macomb or to St. Paul's Catholic Church.      Joan Curl was buried at Saint Pauls Cemetery, Macomb, McDonough Co., Illinois.2 She was born on October 12, 1924 at Paris, Edgar Co., Illinois.3,2 As of July 19, 1945,her married name was Bouslog.1 She married Nye Fulton Bouslog, son of Charles Rawley "Charley" Bouslog and Noma Belle Fulton, on July 19, 1945.1,2 Joan Curl died on May 2, 2011 at Macomb, McDonough Co., Illinois, at age 86.1,2,3 She Joan Curl Bouslog passed away peacefully at 1:20 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at McDonough District Hospital. Her death ended a 25- year courageous battle with diabetes and complications which followed. Joan was born on Oct. 12, 1924, in Paris. She was one of 10 children born to Roy and Margaret Englum Curl. Having grown up during the Great Depression, she enjoyed sharing stories of her family's struggles, sacrifices and successes. She graduated in 1942 from Paris High School. Following her formal education, she was a secretary at the Illinois Cereal Mills in Paris and Howe Lincoln Mercury in Macomb. However, the job that she was the proudest of was being the secretary of St. Paul Catholic School in Macomb for 20 years as it allowed her to practice her faith, which was very important to her, and mentor children every day. She was also an avid bridge player and played in several bridge groups in the community. Joan married the love of her life, Nye Bouslog, on July 19, 1945. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last summer. They were true models of love, devotion, and commitment to one another. While Joan has left her earthly life, their love for one another will continue forever. Joan and Nye had four children, Carol Koestner, of Macomb; Steve (Carla) Bouslog, of Princeton and John (Jill) Bouslog, of Urbandale, Iowa. Their daughter, Lynn Bouslog, died in 1997, in a tragic accident. Joan was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; children; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Joseph Curl, of Paris; her sisters, Rose Marie Kenney, of Paris, Patricia Roush, of Paris, Peggy (Samuel) Doak, of Rock Island and Carolyn Harmon, of Paris. In addition to her daughter, Lynn she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Jean Magill, of Sacramento, Calif. and her brothers, Edward Curl, of Macomb, Larry Curl, of Paris and Jack Curl, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Joan’s family would like to thank the physicians and staff of McDonough District Hospital for their care and compassion during her last illness. It was sincerely appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday May 9, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial following at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with a wake service at 7:45 p.m. In addition, a Rosary will be prayed at 4:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul Catholic Church, 309 W. She is survived by her son Alex Carpenter and wife Angel, of Midland and a multitude of friends and acquaintances that will always remember her with a smile on their faces. Sherrie is fondly remembered by the medical community as she was the office manager/receptionist for Dr. PK Patel over the last 10 years with 17 years in the medical community. There will be no funeral as she requested her body be donated for science. Per her request, there will be a "Celebration of Her Life" to follow.      William Edwin Samford was born on February 16, 1928 at Paris, Edgar Co., Illinois.1 He married Wilma Shell on January 8, 1956.1 William Edwin Samford died on May 2, 2011 at St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., Missouri, at age 83.1 He William Edwin Samford, 83, of St. Joseph, Mo., formerly of Edgar County, passed away Monday afternoon, May 2, 2011, at Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. Mr. Samford was born on the family farm northeast of Paris on Feb. 16, 1928, the son of the late Cloyd Everett and Olive Edrie Bouslog Samford. He married the mother of his three children, Wilma Shell of Newport, Ind., on Jan. 8, 1956. He attended the Scottland Grade School and was a 1946 graduate of the Scottland High School, where he was active in the Future Farmer of America program. He enlisted in the Marines and served during the Korean War. Throughout his life, he was always active in his church, especially with the First Baptist Church in Danville, where he worked with the community outreach bus ministry. Mr. Samford owned and operated a truck and heavy equipment dealership in the Danville area for several years. Prior to his retirement, he relocated the business to Murfreesboro, Tenn., and later to the Atlanta, Ga., area. He has resided in St Joseph, Mo., since 2003. He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, David Edwin and Cindy Samford of Springfield, Mo., Daniel Eugene and Melinda Samford of St Joseph, Mo., and Dwayne Everett Samford of Murfreesboro, Tenn; four grandchildren, Brandy and Matt Meeks of Clarksdale, Mo., Kristen Samford of St Joseph, Mo., Kyle and Kory Samford, both of Springfield, Mo; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Camden and Brookelynn Criss and Quinten Denney, all of Clarksdale, Mo; one brother, Archie Samford, Paris, Mo; two sisters, Bonnie Arlene Samford of Cherokee, N.C., and Norma Pantle Travis of Paris; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Samford and Alma Market; one brother-in-law, Joe Shell; one aunt, Wanda Crable of Paris; as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Wilma Shell McClellan; and his brother, Dale Samford. on May 5, 2011.1
