     Yvonne Marie DeShaw Yvonne Marie (DeShaw) Cook, 71, of Grottoes, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Yvonne was born in San Antonio, TX on December 1, 1946 to the late Albert Gray DeShaw and Joyce Wade DeShaw. Yvonne was a compassionate and beautiful woman, inside and out. She never met a stranger, and always had a smile and kind word for everyone. She loved and appreciated nature, was adventurous, and generous. She enjoyed many different careers, and always worked in the service industry. She was a proud member of the Annex United Methodist Church in Staunton, VA. She is loved, and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Jon B. Cook of Grottoes; her two daughters, Leslie Bizilj of Connecticut and Sara Gopher of Florida; her son, Jon B. Cook II of Grottoes; her mother, Sara Jo DeShaw; two brothers, Chuck and Ricou DeShaw of Florida; five grandchildren, Jessica Rivas, Helena Rivas, Charleigh Bizilj, Evalyn Gopher, Jon B. Cook III; and an abundance of extended family and friends.² Her married name was Cook.¹ She married Jon Benny Cook I, son of Benjamin Howard "Bennie" Cook and Beatrice Poff.^1,2 Yvonne Marie DeShaw was born on December 1, 1946 at San Antonio, Bexar Co., Texas.^2,3 She died on September 30, 2018 at Grottoes, Rockingham Co., Virginia, at age 71.²

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Peters Simmons Dameron. Surviving are his daughter, Cathy D. Wheeler and husband, Lance; son, Jay Simmons and wife, Maggie; father, Jacob Lester Simmons; sister, Carolyn Brown; brother, Terry A. Simmons and wife, Lorraine; grandchildren, Alicia Simmons, Jacob and Aimee Simmons, and Shay and Jessica Wheeler; special uncle, Russell (Butch) Peters and wife, Shelia; special friends, Blair, Betty and James, and Ann and Bobby; and a very special friend, his dog, "Sam." on September 3, 2008.⁶

     Terrance Allen "Terry" Simmons Terry Allen Simmons, 65, of Moneta, passed away on June 29, 2020. He was born in Virginia on August 10, 1954 to the late Jacob Lester Simmons and the late Ann Elizabeth Peters Simmons. Terry was also preceded in death by a brother Barry Simmons. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorraine Simmons; daughter, Michelle Thompson (Michael); sons, Jeremy Gilbert (Amanda), and Johnny Thornhill (Sue); granddaughters, Chelsea Jennings, Cassidy Thornhill and Hannah Thompson; grandsons, Jeffrey Thompson and Joshua Thornhill; great grandchildren, Kinsley Ring, Kiersten Ring, Jackson Thompson and Cammie Thornhill; sister, Carolyn Brown Carter (Berkley); special uncle, Butch Peters; sister-in-law, Becky Deeds; fur baby, Lily Grace and several nieces, nephews and other loving family members. The family would like the thank Donna and Anna Leigh of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the care they gave Terry and Dr. Josh Morales and his nurse, Susan of Blue Ridge Cancer Center.⁵ He was born on August 10, 1954 at Roanoke, Virginia.^3,4,5 He married Betty Lorraine Green, daughter of Howard Eugene Green and Betty Ann Ferguson, on September 1, 1984 at Roanoke, Virginia.⁴ Terrance Allen "Terry" Simmons died on June 29, 2020 at Virginia at age 65.⁵
