     Stanley Brooks Perdue was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.² He was born on March 5, 1936 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁷ He married Virginia Deida Shockley on April 6, 1963 at Hillsville, Carroll Co., Virginia.^8,3 Stanley Brooks Perdue died on October 25, 2020 at Virginia at age 84.² He Stanley Brooks Perdue, 84, of Salem, Va., passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2020, after a short illness. He was born in Copper Hill, Va. on March 5, 1936. He graduated from Check High School and enlisted in the Air Force. After an honorable discharge, Stanley worked for Greyhound Bus Lines for 30 years. He also drove for Abbott Bus Lines for three years after retiring from Greyhound. Stanley was a beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Papa. He was predeceased by his parents, Ballard and Annie Perdue, and a brother, Nelson Perdue. He leaves behind his beloved wife/nurse of 57 years, Virginia Perdue; four children, Monica Perdue Johnson, Allyson Perdue, Bryan Perdue (Tina) and Charles Perdue (Brenda); and five grandchildren, Marysa Johnson, Noah Perdue, Connar Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Colton Perdue. He also leaves behind two sisters, Janice Mallory (Danny), Joyce Willis; and numerous relatives and friends. He was a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church and was a very dedicated member of the Gold Band Sunday School Class. He was Secretary of the Greyhound Retiree's club, a Free Mason and Shriner. He loved to take care of his house, work in the garden, and manicure his yard. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors. He was called Papa by many because he was so fun-loving. In his later years, he loved sweets and ice cream. All the kids loved to visit Papa's "kitchen" which was his snack stash and enjoy "just a little bit" of his ice cream. Stanley was very generous with his time and talents and never expected pay or recognition. He helped all his children with any home project needed and if he didn't know how to do something, he would read about it and become a master. He was known as the "Mayor" of the neighborhood with his quick wit and charm. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va., where military honors will be performed by the United States Air Force. on October 27, 2020.²

     Nelson Thomas Perdue was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.² He was born on March 18, 1940 at Copper Hill, Floyd Co., Virginia.^2,4 He married Florence Maxine Sloan on August 23, 1963 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ Nelson Thomas Perdue and Florence Maxine Sloan were divorced on June 7, 1979 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁵ Nelson Thomas Perdue married Mary Ann Martin on June 24, 2006 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,4,9 Nelson Thomas Perdue died on November 10, 2013 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 73.^2,3 He Nelson Thomas Perdue, 73, of Salem, passed away Sunday morning, November 10, 2013, at his home. He was the loving husband of Mary Ann Martin Perdue. Born March 18, 1940, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Wilton (Ballard) Charles Perdue and Annie Wilson Perdue, of Copper Hill. In addition to his wife, Nelson is survived by his brother, Stanley Perdue and Virginia, of Salem; two sisters, Joyce Willis, of Roanoke County and Janice and Danny Mallory, of Check; a brother-in-law, Roy D. Martin, of Hiwassee; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a son and daughter. His dearest friends include Tommy and Kathy Cundiff, John StClair, Sonny and Rachel Campbell, and Eugene (Peanut) Simpkins.Nelson was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. He retired from General Electric of Salem in 2002 with 37 years of service.The family would like to thank the Dialyses Center of Salem for their compassionate care. Special thanks go to the neighbors of Beverly Heights for their friendship and help during Nelson's illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Art Hearne officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. on November 12, 2013.²

He is survived by his son, Jamie and wife, Kara; two brothers, Kenneth Butterworth and wife, Evelyn, Jerry Butterworth and wife, Sherry; four nieces; and one aunt, Ruth Garland. on August 5, 2008.²

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dale Vest; three children, Laura (Danny) Texter, Jefferey (Elizabeth) Vest and Catherine (Billy) Hartman; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Allen) Hubbard, Charles StClair and Jason Texter; one great-grandchild; one brother, Charles (Sarah) Smith; two sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Elliott and Brenda (Wayne) Underwood.
