Wanda Marie Henley Howell, 62, of Montvale, Va., sat on her back porch with her mother singing, "In The Garden," just like she did so many times as a child, but this time it was at her Heavenly home. She fought long and hard for many years with cardiac disease and other health ailments. Through it all she had a faith, love, and trust in God that was unwavering. God saw that she was growing weary from fighting for so long and said "Well done my good and faithful servant! You were faithful over a few things, I will put you in charge of many things. Wanda's Homecoming Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Valley Church, 8100 Angel Lane, Roanoke, Va. Her husband, the Rev. Curtis Howell, will preach the funeral alongside her for one last time. Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. with the funeral immediately following at 2 p.m. Her Pastor, Jason Cook, will officiate the graveside service at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens where she will be laid to rest with Jesus. Funeral arrangements are being made by Oakey's East Chapel. on August 31, 2017.²

These with his aged mother are left to mourn the death of a kind husband, father, and son. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Lenny, two brothers, Hubert and Wilford. Leonard was born on Oct. 22, 1918 in Osage, the son of William and Mildred Reed Olmstead, He married Alpha F. Ball on Jan. 18, 1942 in Mason City. They were later divorced. He was a self-employed cabinetmaker for over 30 years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and loved spending time in the out doors; gardening, fishing and hiking. A memorial fund has been established in Leonard’s name. on December 23, 2003.⁵

He married Charlotte D. Hills on Jan. 26, 1946, in Cedar Falls. She died March 13, 1981. He then married Ailene R. Aarons Philp on Oct. 31, 1981, in Cedar Falls. Mr. Olmstead served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was employed as a machinist with Titus Manufacturing, Waterloo, for 23 years, then with Viking Pump Co., retiring in 1981. Survivors include: a son, Craig (Kathy) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Cathy Harum of Waverly; a stepson, Jim (Donna) Philp of Waterloo; two stepdaughters, Micky (Lou) Deigel of Rockford, Ill., and Marilyn Gardner of Melbourne, Fla; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren and a stepgreat-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by: three brothers, Leonard, Wilford and Hubert; and a grandson-in-law, Mike Stubbe. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Bible Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home. on February 6, 2008.³

He was born on Dec. 17, 1921 in Dyersville, the son of Mildred (Reed) and William Olmstead. He graduated from high school in Shell Rock, and from 1949 to 1952 worked at the Ohio Locomotive Crane. From 1952 to 1982, he was a machine operator at Timken Company. He was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion Post 181, and VFW Post 1078 where he was Surgeon and a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was united in marriage in 1943 to Marjorie Dingee. He is survived by his wife, four children, Forest D. Olmstead of Port Clinton, Ohio; Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Carrington of Galion, Ohio; Mrs. Robert (Kaye) Kissling of Bucyrus and David C. Olmstead of Bucyrus. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and three brothers, Leonard Olmstead of Shell Rock, Elton Olmstead of Waterloo and Wilford "Willie" Olmstead of Shell Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents and one half-sister. on June 28, 1994.³
