He was a former US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served as a cadet from March 20, 1943 to January 26, 1945. He became a navigator and was assigned to a B-29 Bomber with the 870th Bomb Squadron, 497th Bomb Group. He received the American Campaign medal and the World War II Victory medal. He was a second lieutenant, serving from January 27, 1945 to August 31, 1946. He was promoted to first lieutenant with the US Air Force Reserve until his discharge on May 16, 1955. He then worked at the former Piper Aircraft as a supervisor and retired in June 1982 after 42 years of service. He was a Protestant. He was a life member of Lock Haven Elks Lodge 182, a life member of the Castanea Fire Company, a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 100, a member of American Legion Post 130 and the Forty & Eight Voiture Locale 903, all of Lock Haven. He was survived by his wife, one daughter and a grandson. Graveside services were at the Rest Haven Memorial Park with the Reverend Russell I. Looker officiating. on March 7, 1997.³
