Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Stover, with whom he would have celebrated his 61st anniversary on July 9; three daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Perry of Oil City, Mrs. Doris Ardillo of Harborcreek and Mrs. George (Margaret) VanTassel of St. Charles, Ill; three sons, Norman Bickel of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jerome Bickel of Clearfield and Kenneth Bickel of Millcreek Township, Erie County; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Anna Mae) Blauser of Oil City; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Persons, and a granddaughter, Lesa Perry. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dusckas Funeral Home, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie. The family will receive friends there from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Rollie Harris officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie. on June 12, 1985.6

Also surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Bickel of Erie; three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Perry of Oil City RD 2; Mrs. Doris Ardillo of Erie; and Mrs. George (Margaret) Van Tassel of St. Charles, Ill; three brothers, Norman Bickel of Whitefish, Mont; Jerome Bickel of Clearfield; and Kenneth Bickel of Erie; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Persons was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1952. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. today in the Bracken Funeral Home in Spartansburg, with the Rev. Milton McKinney, pastor of the Taylor-Stand Bible Church officiating. Interment was to follow in the Riceville Cemetery. on July 5, 1980.4

Survivors include a daughter, Karen; a son, David; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson, all of Colorado; one sister and two brothers, Mildred Perry and Jerome Bickel of the Oil City area and Ken Bickel of Erie; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Janet Persons, Doris Ardillo and Margaret Van Tassel. There will be no viewing. Interment will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie.

Tony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed for years with his father at Tony's Auto Service in Weslyville. He continued to work there during his career at Penelec, as a mechanic, until his retirement. Tony was a member of the Star Athletic Club, Siebenbuerger Club and the American Legion Carl Neff Post 571. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Doris; his wife, Ruth; and brothers, Richard and Carl. He is survived by his sister, Geraldine Cottrell (Harold); daughters, Toni Fioravanti (Patrick), Beverly Hurta (Scott) and Teresa Shaffer (Don); one grandson, Kyle Smith; stepchildren, Darlene Strain, Sam Strain (Evelyn) and Tim Strain; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren; his best friends, Bill and Bobbie Lapenz, Bob Lapenz; cousin, Fred Ardillo; and also the many friends and family who enriched his life. It is with heartfelt thanks that we wish to acknowledge the entire staff on the 5th Floor at the Erie Veterans Medical Center, for not only taking wonderful care of Dad, but us also. He could not have been in a better place. And another wonderful thank you goes to the Visiting Nurses Association of Erie County, for their great care also. Remember the Dad, cousin, friend, or neighbor as you plant your garden, shout at that game, or smell that sauce cooking. He touched many lives. Friends and family may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road, on Friday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m., conducted by Rev. Harry Johns III. He worked as a state inspector, then at Sears and later retired from George Junior Republic where he worked in maintenance. Mr. Cubbison was a member of St. Stephen Church and belonged to the James M. Henderson Post No 32 American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, spending time at the Bickel camp in Forest County and sharing a cup of coffee with good friends Sunday morning after church. Mr. Cubbison first was married Aug. 25, 1960, to the former Ruth E. Ward, who died Nov. 1, 1989. He then was married Jan. 16, 1991, to Mae M. Bailer, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Tom Cubbison of Bowling Green, Mo., a stepdaughter, Jan Karasinski of Seneca; a stepson, Joseph Schultz of Ruschberg, Germany; six stepgrandchildren, Julie Schneider and Dan Karasinski, both of Pittsburgh, Mike Karasinski of Seneca, Tim Schultz, Kai Schultz and Cindy Schultz, all of Germany; a step-great-grandson, Phillip Schultz; a step-great-granddaughter, Kimmy Schultz; a special cousin, Jerome Bickel; dear friends, Bob and Mary Allen of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde A. Cubbison Jr; and a sister, Margaret Kerr. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Morrison Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Venango County Humane Society, 2724 Deep Hollow Road, Franklin, 16323. on February 12, 2007.1

He was a member of the Keystone Playboys from 1947 to 1949. He loved to listen to country and bluegrass music and enjoyed playing dominos. He is survived by his wife of Oil City; five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Phyllis) Warham, Martha Turner and Mrs. Kevin (Sue) Sterling, all of Titusville, Mrs. Lindy (Ginger) Keister of Shippenville and Mrs'. Richard (Barbara) Snyder of Delmont; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren,four step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Kerr of Edinboro; a brother, Lester W. Cubbison and his wife, Mae, of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded; in death by a grandson, Michael W. Snyder. No public visitation will be observed. Friends may attend a celebration of his life at the Plumer Community Building on Wednesday from 1l a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time a memorial service will be conducted. Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
