Henry of Sligo; one sister Nettie Griebel of Tylersburg; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Dolby was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard Dolby and Arnold Dolby, two daughters, Esther Stewart and Lois Johnson; three grandchildren, Rickie Stewart and Ronald and Leonard Henry; six brothers, Argyle, Jake, Vernon, Joe, John and Charles; and five sisters, Mary, Della, Ida, Grace and Nora. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 21, in the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. The Rev. Dr. Madge Floyd, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, officiated.      Jacob Osborn Dolby Jacob Osborn Dolby, 72, of Niland, Calif., formerly of Clarion County, died Wednesday, March 19, 1975, in Brawley, Calif., following a heart attack. Born Feb. 14, 1903, at Helen Furnace, he was a son of the late William L. and Mary Alice Smith Dolby. He was married to the former Marguerite Vanderford, who died last July during a visit to Franklin. Mr. Dolby had worked in the oil fields of Texas and Oklahoma before going to California. He was the retired head carpenter for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was also a member of the F & AM Lodge in California. Surviving are three brothers, Joseph Dolby of RD Franklin, Amos Dolby of Brookville and John Dolby of Lucinda, and four sisters, Mrs. Ida Ion of Cowansville, Mrs. Mary Cannito of Jamestown, N.Y; Mrs. Grace M. Coffey of Franklin and Mrs. Nettie Griebel of Snydersburg. Three brothers, Argile, Vernon and Charles, and two sisters, Della Miller and Lenora Reaghart preceded him in death. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday from the Gerald L. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion with the Rev. George Crooks officiating. Bauer Jr. After he passed away in 1956, she married Maurice Griebel, who died in 1973. Surviving are four sons, Victor Bauer of Tylersburg, Vincent Bauer of Knox, Jerry Bauer of Hobart, Okla., and Max Bauer of Dunsmuir, Calif; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Griebel was preceded in death by three sons, Eugene Bauer, Stephen Bauer and 14-month-old Theodore Bauer; one great-grandchild, Angela McKenna; seven brothers, Argyle Dolby, Vernon Dolby, Joseph Dolby, Charles Dolby, Amos Dolby, Jacob Dolby and John Dolby; and five sisters, Della Miller, Lenora Reaghart, Ida Ion, Mary Cannito and Grace Coffey. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Borland Funeral Home Inc. of Leeper. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Church, Crown, with the Rev. Thomas Hoderny, pastor, as the presider. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. on August 17, 2000.6

Dolby, aged 24 years, a resident of 544 Colbert avenue who was fatally injured in an motorcycle accident on the McClintockville road late Sunday afternoon, will be conducted in Bethel M. E. church at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Prayer services will be held at the residence at 1 o'clock. Rev. C. C. Mohney, pastor of the church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Helen Furnace cemetery. The young man suffered a fractured skull, and his neck and left arm were broken, when the rear tire of his motorcycle which he was riding toward Oil City, blew out near the Manion Barrel Works. He lost control of the machine and crashed into a telephone pole. He was unconscious when picked up and was rushed to the Oil City Hospital in the Osenider ambulance, but died before he reached the institution. Coroner Lake D. Steffee investigated the circumstances and gave a verdict of accidental death. The deceased was born on February 25, 1907, in Clarion county, the son of A. W. and Bertha Felton Dolby. He was employed as a stillman by the Pennzoil Co. Surviving are his widow and three children, Mildred, Alice and Donna. His parents, two brothers, William and Arden Dolby and a sister, Gertrude Dolby, all of this city, also survive. on August 24, 1931.6

She worked at Owens Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion. Charlotte was a member of the former United Methodist Church in Helen Furnace. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing games on the computer, working on any kind of puzzle, and spending time with her dog, Snickers. Charlotte is survived by her beloved companion, Harold Carbaugh; her three children, Darlene Dolby and her companion, Adrian Bozik, Stanley Dolby and his wife, Pam, and Joe Dolby and his wife, Gina, all of Lucinda; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Cody, Chad, and Alyssa; and four great granddaughters, Mikayla, Louella, Bynnley, and Vivian, with another one on the way. She is also survived by her siblings, Clara Stauffer of New York, Jack Hartzell of New York, and Billie Eck of Vowinckel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four sisters, Esther, Donna, Linda, and Peg. Surviving are her husband, David O; a daughter, June Aprile of Geneseo; her parents, Jack and Doris Dolby of Lucinda, Pa; two brothers, Jack Jr. of Scottsville and Rick Dolby of Caledonia; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Newell-Fay Funeral Home, Manlius. Burial will be in Helen Furnace Cemetery, Clarion, Pa. on August 6, 1992.3

     Freeda Belle Dolby Freeda Belle Dolby Newell, 92, a resident of Beverly Healthcare, Oil City, formerly of Oil City RD 2, died at 5:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, in Northwest Medical Center at Franklin. Born Sept. 16, 1908, in Millcreek, she was a daughter of Vernon Smith Dolby and Viola Elvira Sigworth Dolby. Mrs. Newell had lived in Oil City most of her life and was a 1925 graduate of Welch Business College, Oil City, and a 1930 graduate of the Salvation Army Training College in the Scranton area. Prior to entering Salvation Army training, she worked for years for Holmes and Crosby Architects. After six years of officership with the Salvation Army in the Scranton area, Mrs. Newell, along with her husband, returned to the Oil City area. When her youngest child entered junior high school, Mrs. Newell re-entered the work force, working 10 years for the Girl Scout and eight years for Marian Catlin Business Service. Mrs. Newell was a member of the Oil City Salvation Army where she was a Sunday School teacher, corps pianist, bandsman and songster for more than 50 years. She also was Home League secretary for 10 years and the Young People's secretary for 25 years. Upon retirement in 1971, she was very active in the AARP, RSVP and the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of the Senior Citizen Center in Oil City and was a member of the Mostly Brass music group. Mrs. Newell received the Golden Deed Award April 22, 1975. Her hobbies included traveling, sewing, crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles. Mrs. Newell was married in the Oil City Salvation Army Citadel on May 15, 1929, to David Clyde Newell, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Betty Newell Lyons and Viola Mae Newell, both of Ocala, Fla. and Mrs. Raymond (Mary Louise Newell) Marshall of Oil City; one son, David Vernon Newell of Strongsville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Linda Lyons Brown of Florence, Ky., Raymond Marshall Jr. of Danville, Ky., Leanna Rae Marshall Conant of Quincy, Mass., Ingrid Newell Marti of Brunswick, Ohio and Amy Newell Holt of Cleveland, Ohio; and nine great-grandchilddren, Jami Marshall of Denver, Colo., Kasandra Marshall of DuBois, Jennifer Conant of Quincy, Mass., David Robert Perruchon, Christopher Perruchon, Leah Perruchon and Max Martin, all of Brunswick, Ohio, and James Roy Holt and Amanda Grace Holt, both of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newell was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ronald Robert Lyon and Michael Marshall; and one brother, Don Dolby. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the Hutchinson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Major James Miller, retired, and Captain James Folely of the Oil City Salvation Army, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.      His Social Security Number was 159-20-6220.11 Vernon Don Dolby Vernon Don Dolby, 54, of 610 Orange St., who operated a barber shop here for 34 years and was also employed by Oil Well Supply, died at 4:40 a.m., Friday in the Oil City Hospital. He was born Feb. 5, 1910, in Clarion County, a son of Vernon S. and Viola Seigworth Dolby. He came to Oil City as a child and had resided here since. He attended the Oil City schools. Mr. Dolby operated a barber shop at 30 Seneca Street and previously operated the shop on Plummer Street. He also was employed as a craneman at Oilwell Supply for the past 21 years. Mr. Dolby was a member of the Salvation Army. He and the former Marian Akins were married May 1, 1933. She survives. In addition to his widow, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Viola Dolby of Oil City, three daughters, Mrs. William (Patricia) Barr of Oil City, Mrs. Charles (Donna) Cann of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Lt. Paul (Virginia) Downing of Ridgeway, one son, Vernon S. Dolby at home, one sister, Mrs. David (Freeda) Newell of Oil City, seven grandchildren. Friends are being received in the Hutchinson and Morton Funeral Home. Removal will be made to the Salvation Army Citadel at noon Monday where the body will lie in state until 2 p.m., Monday when funeral services will be concucted by Major Howard Burr of the Salvation Army.
