Phipps James D. Phipps, 75 of Franklin, died at 9:01 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, PA. Born July 1, 1931 in Franklin, he was the son of Lloyd R. and Florence Audine Howell Phipps. He attended the Rock Grove School. Mr. Phipps was employed as both a pumper and a welder with Wolf's Head Refinery in Reno. He also owned and operated Phipps' Saw Sharpening business until 2003. He enjoyed pitching horsehoes and participated in a Horseshoe League in the Franklin area. He also enjoyed communicating on CB radios, hunting and fishing, playing the lottery and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Phipps was married in Dempseytown November 16, 1972 to Eleanor L. Kelly, who preceded him in death May 19, 2004. Surviving are three children, Sally Wolf and husband, Bob of Rouseville, Ken Phipps and wife, Hope of Center, Texas and Pam Morris and husband, Bill of Franklin; four stepchildren, Mike Kelly and wife, Susie of Franklin, Linda Hinkson and husband, Mike of Cooperstown, Pat Kelly and wife, Ellen of Franklin and Tim Kelly of Franklin; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. Mr. Phipps was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A memorial service was held at 1 P.M. Friday, November 17, 2006 in the Hile-Best funeral Home, Seneca, PA. The Rev. Ron bole, VNA Hospice chaplain will officiate. Interment follwed in Scrubgrass Cemetery, Scrubgrass Township, Venanago County. Mr. Phipps was a tissue donor through CORE (Center for Organ Recovery & Education) and his family is pleased to know that others will enjoy enhanced life and sight because of his gift. in November, 2006.3 He died on November 11, 2006 at Seneca, Venango Co., Pennsylvania, at age 75.3

"Bill" Jackson died on January 13, 2013 at Clarion, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 78.2,3,4 He Willis L. "Bill" Jackson, 78, of Main Street, Emlenton, died at 6:12 p.m. Sunday evening, Jan 13, 2013, at Clarion Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Jackson was born July 5, 1934, in Parker's Landing, Allegheny Township, Butler County. He was the son of the late Warren and Mae Wilcox Jackson. He was a member of the Emlenton Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, the company of his family, and visiting with friends at the various sportsman clubs that he held membership. Bill was a truck driver for more than 40 years. He had been employed for many years with H.E. Shoup Trucking in Emlenton. Bill hauled bottles from Continental Can Company to the Pennzoil Refinery, and was affectionately known by their employees as "Billion Bottle Bill." Mr. Jackson was married April 19, 1954, in Emlenton, to Leda Coulter, and she preceded him in death on July 11, 2001. Surviving are five sons, Mark E. Jackson and wife Deb of Emlenton, Richard K. "Coony" Jackson of Emlenton, Jeffrey A. Jackson and wife Ginger of Bradford, Warren Eric Jackson of Emlenton and Stephen M. Jackson of Emlenton. He also is survived by a brother, John Jackson and wife Linda; and a sister, Louise Miller and husband Tom, all of Parker. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Stephanie Graham of Bruin, Shawn M. Jackson of Emlenton, Amanda L. Jackson of Karns City, Brandy L. Jackson of Emlenton and Eva Jackson of Emlenton; two great-grandsons, Gavin Graham of Bruin and Matthew Manuel of Karns City; a former daughter-in-law, Vickie Warner; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a two brothers, Robert Jackson and his wife Eloise and Charles Jackson and his wife Lucille. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hile Funeral Home, Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Lori Danielson, pastor of Emlenton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Scrubgrass Cemetery, Emlenton. on January 15, 2013.3

"Jack" Coulter was born on April 5, 1933 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pennsylvania.3,4 He died on October 14, 2014 at Franklin, Venango Co., Pennsylvania, at age 81.3,4 He John D. “Papa Jack” Coulter, 81, of Stony Drive, Franklin, passed away Tuesday evening, October 14, 2014, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Pittsburgh on April 5, 1933. He was the son of Jonathan R. and Maxine A. Hulings Coulter. He grew up in Emlenton and graduated from the Emlenton High School in 1950. Jack was a longtime member of the Scrubgrass Stone Church in Emlenton. He enjoyed hunting, especially with his grandchildren, attending their sporting events, gardening, canning, and driving to visit family and friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Jack had been employed for a number of years as a carpenter for the L.O. Bouquin Company in Oil City, and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He is survived by two daughters, Tami Hoover and her husband, John, and Toni Coulter, all of Franklin; his sister, Susan Johnson and her husband, Dennis, of Franklin; six grandchildren, Craig Hoover and his fiancé, Heather, Jeremy Hoover, James Hoover and his fiancé, Megan, Cynthia Hoover and her boyfriend, Luke, David Sibble and his fiancé, Ashley, and Coulter Hughes, all of Franklin; two step-grandchildren, Ricky Hughes of Arizona and Mandy Shingledecker of Franklin; three great-grandchildren, Emilee Hoover, Anna Hoover, and Aaiden Sibble, all of Franklin. Jack was looking forward to the birth of his fourth great-grandchild, a granddaughter, Charlee Fay Hoover. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leda and Willis Jackson, and Eleanor and James Phipps and a nephew, Jeffrey Jackson. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Friday in Hile Funeral Home Inc., 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. A funeral service will be held from the Scrubgrass Stone Church at 1:00 p.m. (there will be no viewing at church) Saturday with the Rev. Dennis Barger, church pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Scrubgrass Stone Church Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard of Franklin. on October 16, 2014.3
