He served on the White City City Council, was president of the White City Christian Church board and was active in the White City senior center. He also coached little league baseball. He married Ethel Irene Poff in October 1933. She died in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Paige, White City; a son, Roland Atkinson, Topeka; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the White City Christian Church. Burial will be in Clark's Creek Cemetery near Latimer. Mr. Atkinson will lie in state from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kendall Funeral Home in Council Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the White City Christian Church, the White City Senior Center or the White City Baseball Association and sent in care of the funeral chapel. on April 28, 2001.2
