She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1950. She retired from Kraft Foods after 29 years of service in 1991. Maxine had lived at Lake of the Woods since 1972, enjoying swimming, gardening, and fishing. She is survived by Gene Rowe, Lynn Rowe, Norm Rowe, Ron Becker and their families; sisters, Alice Swogger and Joanne Fouts; and brothers, Harold Berry, Albert Berry and John Berry and their families. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her birth parents; her adopted parents; three husbands, Paul Rowe, Howard Weber and Irvin Carpenter; a daughter, Martha Becker; two brothers, William Berry and Robert Berry; and her life long friend, Iris McKeever Simpson.
