Alderman age 59, of New Middletown who passed away Sunday at Beeghly Oaks. Cheryl was born August 5, 1949 in Richwood, West Virginia a daughter of Newman Ray & Marjorie Fast Long and came to this area as a child. She attended South High School and Youngstown State University. She was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Lance Missile Crewman. She is survived by her daughters Leanna Thomas; Adele Shaffer of Boardman; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings Robert Underwood of Ohio; Vikki Peralta; Debby F. Manion both of Texas; David Ray Long of Ohio; and Kelly M. Rice of South Carolina. Long was a dairy farmer, a member of the Hana Creek Missionary Baptist Church and the Landside IOOF Lodge No. 362. Survivers include his wife, Mrs. Pauline A. Long; two sons, Marshall and Randy Long, both of Greenville; four brothers, Homer and Ernest Long, both of Red Sulphur Springs, Ted Long of Greenville and Howard Long of California; two sisters, Mrs. Bill Meadows of Kentland, Md., and Mrs. Noel Hutchinson of Red Sulphur Springs. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Red Sulphur Springs Church with Rev. Silas Gore officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The body has been taken from Broyles Funeral Chapel in Peterstown to the residence where it will remain until one bour prior to services. Pallbearers include Bud Bowers, Harry Martin, Orville Long, Jack Long, Otis Long, H. C. Canterbury, and the IOOF will conduct graveside services. on August 10, 1966.7

Long, age 88, of Red Sulphur Springs, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton. Born November 29, 1921, at Red Sulphur Springs, he was the son of the late Oral J. and Ardella Lawrence Long. In addition to his parents Mr. Long was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Furrow, six brothers, and two sisters. Mr. Long attended the Ballard Baptist Church. He was a self-employed Dairy Farmer for over 43 years. A lifelong resident of Red Sulphur Springs, he began the milk truck run in 1943 at Red Sulphur Springs and adjoining communities. He operated two dairy farms in the Hans Creek community, and in 1956 began operating a dairy farm at the home place at Red Sulphur Springs. Mr. Long’s most treasured hobby was showing border cheviot sheep across the eastern United States, and was most noted locally for having shown these sheep for 60 consecutive years at the West Virginia State Fair. Homer is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Edith Wilson Long; two daughters, Linda Stimpson and Judy Booth; grandsons, David Furrow, Steve Johnston and Greg Booth; granddaughters, Pam Dransfield and Sharon Booth; great-grandsons, Brennan Furrow, Devon Dransfield, and Ian Dransfield; great-granddaughters, Ashley Hardymon, Amy Johnston and Melissa Johnston and great-great-grandson, Jackson Miller. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, with Pastor David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Sulphur Springs Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, January 29, 2010, at the funeral home. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ballard Christian School, HC77, Box 106, Ballard, WV 24918. on January 28, 2010.3

Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the Red Sulphur Springs Community Church and was of the Methodist faith. She was retired from the Dietary Department of Pinecrest Hospital in Beckley, W.Va. She had also been employed at Celanese Fiber Company, Narrows, Va., Super Bee Department Store, Beckley, W.Va. and sewing factories in Narrow, Va. and Pence Springs, W.Va. She is survived by a daughter, Karen A. Bonifacio and husband Doug of Beckley, W.Va; a brother, Homer C. Long and wife Edith of Red Sulphur Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside rites will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Red Sulphur Community Church Cemetery, Red Sulphur Springs, W.Va. with the Rev. Judson Sloan officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, W.Va. no later than 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Cecil Long, Fairley Long, John Long, Charles Long, Tommy Long and John Furrow.      Edith Kathleen Wilson RED SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV - Edith Wilson Long, 88 of Red Sulphur Springs, passed away Monday April 22, 2013 at Country View Assisted Living, Peterstown, WV. Born June 28, 1924 at Scarbro, WV, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Lucille McGhee Wilson. Mrs. Long attended Ballard Baptist Church and was a farmer and homemaker. Being a lifelong resident of Red Sulphur Springs, she and her husband operated two dairy farms in the Hans Creek Community and in 1956 began operating a dairy farm at the home place at Red Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Long’s most treasured hobby was showing Border Cheviot Sheep with her husband across the eastern United States and was most noted locally for having shown these sheep for 63 consecutive years at the West Virginia State Fair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Homer C. Long; one daughter, Barbara Long Furrow, and a half brother. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Stimpson and husband John of Red Sulphur Springs, WV and Judy Booth and husband Earl of Union, WV, three grandsons, two granddaughters, three great grandsons, three great granddaughters and two great-great grandsons. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2013 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV with Pastor David Spencer officiating. Born November 2, 1931 at Roanoke, Va., he was the son of the late Fred Dewitt and Alleen Mulder Furrow. John was a graduate of Waiteville High School and attended West Virginia University. He served our Country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John had worked for McLean Trucking Company at Charleston, W.Va. and he retired in 1995 from Davis H. Elliott Electrical Service at Roanoke, Va. John also owned and operated Monroe Raleigh Milk Transport for over 30 years. He was a member of the Union Lions Club, IBEW Local #26, Monroe County Farm Bureau, WV Cattlemen's Association, and the Monroe Lodge #77 AF&AM in Union. John was also an Elder and Treasurer of Carmel Church in Gap Mills, W.Va. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Long Furrow. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Betty Johnson Furrow of Union; one son, John David Furrow and Betty Pullig of Severn, Md; one daughter, Pamela F. Dransfield and husband Don of Union; two step-daughters, Amy Holbrook and husband Lane of Lewisburg, W.Va., Kelly Caro and husband Jesse of Tiffin, Ohio; two brothers, Rev. Dewitt Furrow and wife Ana of Union, and Charles Furrow and wife Pat of Gordonsville, Va; grandchildren, Devon Dransfield and wife Mary of Middlebrook, Va., Brennan Furrow of Elkridge, Md., Ian Dransfield of Union, Jessica Daniels and husband Dominique of Morgantown, W.Va., Joshua and Jackson Holbrook of Lewisburg, Micah, Chloe, and Addison Caro, all of Tiffin, Ohio. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Carmel Church at Gap Mills, with Rev. Bill Keeney officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery at Waiteville, W.Va. where the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites. on November 21, 2014.4
