Born at Lick Creek in Summers County, April 23, 1882, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Rogers and had lived all his life in Summers County near Indian Mills where he was actively agaged in farming as long as health permitted. Mr. Rogers had been residing at Bellepoint for the past seven years. He was a member of the Indian Mills Baptist church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lura Rogers, of Bellepoint; seven sons, Noah Rogers of Bellepoint, Ray and Stanley Rogers of Kessler, Claude Rogers, Red Sulphur Springs, Garland Rogers, Hines, Cyrus Rogers, Dayton, Ohio, Dorsey H. Rogers, Chicago, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Brumit, Richmond, Va; Mrs. Hallie Foster, Bellepoint; 14 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one half brother, W. C. Rogers of Beckley; a half-sister, Mrs. Louella Craft, Arlington, Va. on September 5, 1957.4 He died on September 5, 1957 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 75.5,4

Other survivors include his wife, Margaret May Kelley Rogers; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria Dixon and Mrs. Doris Bolen, both of Jacksonville, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Foster of Bellepoint and Mrs. Ruby Wallace of Flint, Mich; four brothers, Ray of Kessler, Garland of Hines, Cyrus of Kettering, Ohio, and Dorsey Jr. of Dumfries, Va; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Amwell Baptist Church at Rupert with Rev. Perlie Orndorff and Rev. Fred Dillon in charge. Burial will be in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville. The body will be taken to his home at 4 p.m. today from the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in East Rainelle. on August 13, 1968.3

Rogers, 51, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Lura Rogers, of 502 Cedar Aveneue, Bellepoint. Death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had been in ill health for several years. Born May 8, 1914 in Summers County, he was the son of Mrs. Lura Lawrence Rogers and the late Dorsey M. Rogers. He had lived most of his life in Summers County. He was employed on the Dickinson Farm at Red Sulphur Springs, and was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church at Buck. Surviving, other than his mother, are six brothers, Noah of Buck Route, Hinton, Ray of Kessler, Stanley of Brooke Route, Hinton, Garland of Hines, Cyrus of Dayton, Ohio, and Dorsey H. of Dunfires, Va., and two sisters, Mrs. Ted Foster of Bellepoint and Mrs. James Wallace of Flint, Mich. The body is at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton pending completion of funeral arrangements. on May 27, 1965.6

     Hallie Marie Rogers Hallie Marie Foster, 98 of Beckley, WV, formerly of Hinton and Danese went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2020. She was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting, bowling, gardening, canning food which she shared with neighbors and family, and maintained beautiful flowers around her home. Hallie was born June 22, 1921 in Forrest Hill, WV to the late Dorsey Matthew Rogers and Lura Alice Lawrence-Rogers. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Leland Theodore “Ted” Foster whom she married on January 4, 1941 in Hinton, Summers County, WV; son, Theodore David Foster; one grandson, Chuck Young; two sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one sister; seven brothers; and seven sisters-in-law. Hallie is survived by her four daughters, Judy Foster-Donohoe of WV, Jane Foster-Bryant & husband Eddie Bryant of SC, Rebecca Foster-Williams & husband Ray Williams of NC, Missy Foster-O’Dell of WV; six grandchildren, Ellen, Bo, Dawn, Shawn, Amber and a special grandson that lived with her, Travis O’Dell & wife Ashley O’Dell; thirteen great grandchildren; and special neighbors, Barbara Cadle & husband Dale Cadle, her “Harley Buddy” with whom she took bike rides. Funeral services will be at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 9:00 AM. Friends may gather with the family on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. She then married the late Kenneth Dixon and was a homemaker during the 1960's. During the 1970's Gloria became a data input supervisor for Blue Cross Blue Shield. During the 1980's and 90's Gloria became owner, along with her husband Kenneth Hess, of Commercial Sheet Metal, where she held a contractor's license. She retired in 1999 and moved to Bryceville, FL to enjoy country living, where she joined and regularly attended Brandy Branch Baptist Church. She later moved to Macclenny, FL to be closer to family. She was an avid painter and her works are displayed in numerous family members' homes. Gardening was also one her favorite things to do and she loved spending time with her family. She wanted to hear all about new things her grandchildren were doing and always wished she could see them more often. She especially enjoyed her regular outings with her niece Debby where a simple doctor's appointment could turn into an all-day adventure. Gloria leaves behind her beloved sister, Dorlis Rogers, daughters; Cindy (Ronnie) Collins and Kimberly (Ray) Addair, grandchildren; James (Teri) Collins, Elizabeth (Chuck) McLauchlin, Amanda Carter, Zachary Addair, Autumn (Devon Hale) Wall, Caleb (Ashleigh) Addair and Stella Addair, great-grandchildren; Ethan Collins, Claire Collins, Chase McLauchlin, Gracelyn Wall, Sidney Wall, Chance McLauchlin, Kalia Hale and Lynden Addair. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews that were very dear to her heart and brought great joy to her life - nieces; Debby (Danny) Malone, Tracy (Izzy) Tahil, Kelly (David) Frasier, Taylor Malone and Micki Bolena, nephews; Michael (Lucy) Bolena, and John (Kim) Malone. Gloria was greeted in Heaven by her daughter Angela (Michael) Carter, mother Phoebe Rogers Holland, father Stanley Rogers, and step-father Delmar Holland. We all love her very much and will miss her smile and the way she made each of us feel so special and so loved. Hopefully, they will let her check the mail in Heaven. The family will receive guests Thursday, March 19th, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S.
