"Dennie" (Erin) Shawkey II of Boomer; daughter, Rebecca (Donald) Ballard of London; grandchildren, Charles Dirk Ballard, Cheyenne Danae Ballard and Gianna Grace Shawkey; aunt, Martha Kees of Pratt; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Poff of Pratt. Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boomer Baptist Church with the Rev. James Neeson officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. on April 12, 2011.2

Mary was a member of the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church and she was active in various activities at the church. She retired after 40 years of service from C&P Telephone Company. She was a past president of the Fayetteville Women Club and the Mountaineer Garden Club, a member of the Red Hat Club, a past matron of the Fayetteville Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Oak Hill Study Club, a former Girl Scout and Brownie Leader; she was active with the "ANGEL" Support Group. Mary enjoyed quilting, gardening, and she was an avid cat lover. She volunteered at the Fayette County Animal Shelter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Kenny" Sproles and her daughter, Rebecca Lynn Scott. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Greg Sproles and his wife, Linda, of Summersville; two grandchildren, Kelsey Lynn Sproles and Nathaniel Ryan Sproles, both of Summersville; and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 26, at the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Catherine S. George officiating. In keeping with Mary's wishes, her body has been donated to the West Virginia University Human Gift Registry. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of memorial service at the church.
