He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Richey Tyre Masonic Lodge, and Billings Gem and Mineral Club, was past delegate to Montana Wildlife Federation, Bureau of Land Management in Phillips Co. for 15 years, served two terms as Malta mayor, and loved to travel, hunt, fish and was an avid rock hound. He won many trophies and blue ribbons on lapidary and faceting, and received an award for best cabachans from Northwest Federation of Minarlogical Society in 1975. He has contributed a Montana dryhead agate to the Smithsonian Institute. Mr. Milne, 84, of 3226 West Viola lane, died Sunday in Billings Deaconess Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Knox, Ind., a son of William and Dagmar Milne, he lived on a dairy farm in Hammond, Ind., until his family moved to Red Water Creek in Richland County in 1917. He graduated from the first class in Richey high school and the state normal college in Dillon, receiving a lifetime teaching certificate in 1935. He received a degree in industrial arts from Oregon state. On Aug. 9, 1932, he married Rose Chatham in Terry. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Billings; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Hitchcock of Seattle, Wash; a brother, George of Sidney; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with interment of cremains in Mountview Cemetery. on March 20, 1989.⁶
