SIRK, 92, of Decatur, on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, 11:05 p.m., at her residence. Born Jan. 7, 1925, in Adams County, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Vilas Luginbill and Ruth M. (Parr) Luginbill. She married James W. Sirk on Dec. 3, 1950, at Bethel Brethren Church; he preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2003. She was a member of the North Highlands Church of Christ in Fort Wayne where she had worked in the nursery and was also involved with the Miriam Circle group at church. Alice also enjoyed volunteering for different organizations in the Aboite community in Fort Wayne. Alice was a homemaker. Prior to her children being born, she was also a hairdresser and owned the Studio Beauty Salon in Fort Wayne. Following the birth of her first son, she sold the business, but continued being a hairdresser for over 20 years. Alice was also an Avon Representative for many years. One of the greatest rewards she received during those years was meeting and interacting with her customers. Alice was an avid doll collector and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and needlework. Bowling and fishing were also favorite hobbies of hers. Surviving are her sons, J. Wylie (Jeanie) Sirk II of Decatur, Ind., and Fritz (Lori) Sirk of Hoagland, Ind; sisters, Catherine "Kate" (Clarence) Hamrick of Willshire, Ohio, and Marilynn Louise (Gerry) Simons of Decatur, Ind; seven grandchildren, Jim (Ashley) Sirk, Nick (fiance, Crystal Noble) Sirk, Derek (Ashley) Morris, Rachel (Dave) Krueckeberg, Josh (Katherine) Sirk, Brittany (Tim) Grote, and Emily (Ryan) Gehring; 16 great-grandchildren, Jacob Dunning, Olivia Dunning, Jase Sirk, Ellie Sirk, Abigayle Sirk, Luke Sirk, Aiden Sirk, Joselyn Kaufmann, Theodore Morris, Hayden Krueckeberg, Kayana Krueckeberg, Avery Krueckeberg, Emma Sirk, Eleanor Sirk, Elizabeth Sirk, and Benson Grote; and one great-great-grandchild, Mason Krueckeberg. She was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Bruce Alan Sirk, in 1955; and two brothers, Robert Lee Luginbill and Vilas Eugene Luginbill. Service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home - Decatur, with visitation one hour prior. Chaplain John Follett officiating. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Burial in Mt. Etna Cemetery, Huntington, Ind. on December 9, 2017.2

Darle was a Wabash County Commissioner 20 years, served as chairman of the Wabash County Drainage Board, and was on the Wabash County Plan Commission. He was a member of the St. Peter's United Church of Christ and the Lions Club, both of Urbana, and the National and State Angus Association. He is survived by his wife, Helen Dawes of Urbana; three children, Jeff Dawes of Wabash, Jane (Brock) McMullen of Rockville, and Todd (Chris) Dawes of Urbana; nine grandchildren, John Dawes of Urbana, Jamie (Cassie) Dawes of Huntington, Jason Dawes of Wabash, Brianne (Eric) Shields of Rockville, Brogan (Monica) McMullen of Terre Haute, Keely McMullen and Kieran McMullen, both of Rockville, and Corbin Dawes and Collin Dawes, both of Urbana; two great-grandchildren, Kylen McMullen and Killian Shields, both of Rockville; three brothers, Dean (Janice) Dawes of Wabash, Wendel (Janene) Dawes of Urbana, and Wayne (Judy) Dawes of Fort Wayne. M. Frankfort Masonic Lodge, He served as Lt. Govornor of Kiwanis in 1956 and 1966. He was a member of the Lafayette Downtown Kiwanis Club. Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Nancy, at home, two sons, Stephen R., Kansas City, Mo. and Michael O. Ft. Wayne; a brother and a sister. on February 3, 1969.6
