Friends may call after 4 p.m. today. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Fidler-Frame Funeral Home, Belle. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park. Eastern Star service will be 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. on March 18, 1975.5

Jewel was a pianist for the Baptist Church in Standard, W.Va., in the1950s. After moving to Florida in 1976, Jewel joined Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Ocala, Fla. Jewel was a devoted mother and her door was always open for family and friends to visit. Jewel also owned and operated the Pioneer Inn at East Bank, W.Va., between 1960 and 1968. Everyone enjoyed the times spent with her and will always have fond memories of her at the Pioneer Inn. Jewel was a lifetime member and Past Matron of Kanawha Chapter No. 38, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a 50 plus member. She served as Grand Representative of Florida in West Virginia from 1987 to1989. Jewel was also a Past Worthy High Priestess of Manatho White Shrine No. 5 in Montgomery, W.Va., now Charleston Shrine No. 7. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Estep Sr; son, Ralph C. "Sonny" Estep Jr; parents, Sam and Oshie Saul of East Bank, W.Va; sisters, Neoma Crynock and Mattie Dressier; and brothers, Willie, Wilson, Sammy and Johnny Saul. Cherishing her memories are her four daughters, Shanda (Raymond) Douglas and Sally Graves of Bethel, Ohio, Susie (Larry) Williams of Warrenton, Va., and Sharlene (David) Carney of Ocala, Fla; sister, Agnes (Frank) Wooters of Vienna, W.Va; and brother, James (Betty) Saul of Bishopville, S.C; daughter-in-law, Gloria Dee Estep of Sophia, W.Va; four grandsons, Shawn (Rachelle) Jarrett of Craigsville, W.Va., James (Carol) Williams of Amissville, Va., Charles Ralph "C. Collins, 68, of Estero, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, lovingly surrounded by his family and the caring staff at the Hope Hospice Center in Bonita Springs, Fla., after a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born in Gallagher, W.Va., on Aug. 22, 1937, to the late Howard and V. Maxine (Estep) Collins. Jay graduated in 1955 from Hurricane High School. It was there he met his lifelong sweetheart, Shirley A. Porter Collins. They celebrated their 50th class reunion last summer, a cherished event in his life. Additionally, Jay graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Meteorology. Jay, with the support of his wife and family, enjoyed a 20-year career in the United States Air Force, living in England, New Hampshire, Nebraska, and New York. A Vietnam veteran, he was the commander of the Weather Detachment at Plattsburgh Air Force Base in New York. He was especially proud of his son Matthew and great-nephews, who also chose the military as a career. Following his retirement from the service, Jay began his second career as a computer consultant, traveling around the United States from his home base, first in Plattsburgh and then in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. After his second retirement, he and Shirley moved to Estero, Fla. However, they always considered West Virginia their home. They returned frequently each year to visit with their extended family. Jay was a member of the Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida. Jay is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley, to whom he was married for 48 wonderful years. He is also survived by his three children, their spouses, and his grandchildren; daughter, Marjorie Light and her husband, James, of Plattsburgh, N.Y; his son, Mark Collins and wife, Tricia, of Foster City, Calif; and his son, Matthew Collins and wife, Lori, of Fayetteville, N.C. His grandchildren, who called him Popta, loved and admired him, Stephanie and Craig Light, Alyssa and Ryan Collins, Stephen Auer, Dylan Hensley, and Katie Collins. He is survived by his loving sisters and their husbands, Penny Qualls and James of Richmond, Linda McGehee and George of Hurricane; his in-laws, Wanda Johnson, Cebert Riddle, Dwane and Cyndi Porter of WV; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Jay loved boating on Lake Champlain, fly fishing, and golfing. He was known for his great sense of humor and his quest for lifelong learning. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hurricane on Thursday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. The family will have visitation at the church an hour prior to the service. Jay's cremated remains will be scattered both in his home state of West Virginia and his long time residence of New York this coming summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Hurricane, WV, 25526 or Joanne's House at Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Street, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. on December 19, 2005.1
