     Willis Broadus Taylor Sr. Asheville - Willis Broadus Taylor, Sr., 93, of Asheville, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge. A native and resident of most of his life of Buncombe County, Mr. Taylor retired in 1985 from the Black Mountain Center following 23 ½ years of service. He was a former member of Biltmore Church of God, and was an active member of the Open Door Cathedral. Mr. Taylor was proud of the fact that he was able to obtain his G.E.D. at age 50. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in World War II. Mr. Taylor was a hard working, caring man who reached out to lend a hand to anyone in need, never asking for anything in return. He was an avid model railroader, building over 10 different layouts in all, and loved to play bar dice with his son, Sam. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Taylor was the son of the late James Lee “Jim” Taylor and Celia Rhymer Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Lillian Todd Taylor, who passed away August 28, 2014; son, Samuel “Sam” Taylor; grandson, Tim Taylor; brothers: Herbert, Sidney, Oscar, and Clinton Taylor; and sister, Hilda Bartlett. Surviving are his children: Patricia “Pat” Earwood and husband Jim and Carolyn Moore, all of Arden, and Broadus “Buddy” Taylor, Jr. and wife Mary of Asheville; grandchildren: Lisa Earwood Sherlin and husband Wayne, Jeffrey Earwood and wife Laura, Jennifer Earwood Morrow and husband Charles, Darren Moore and wife Amy, Tracie Moore Helton, Joseph Taylor, Leigh Anne Taylor Bishop and husband Mark, and Christopher Taylor; 18 great-grandchildren; three great, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Powers and Rev. Charles Coxie officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Pat and Jim Earwood. He is survived by three sons, John A. Powers and wife Peggy of Asheville, Thomas V. Powers, Jr. of Lincolnton, NC, and Michael C. Powers and wife Charlene of Mauldin, SC; two daughters, Elizabeth Garnell Robinson and husband Bruce of Mars Hill, NC, and Pamela D. Powers of Asheville; honorary son and daughters, Junior and Nancy Stevens of Asheville, Barbara Hilton of Hickory, NC, and Sharon Jordan Powers of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. The love of his life, his darling wife of 55 years, Diane June Wilon Cole, resides at Aston Park Health Care Center in Asheville. He has two devoted daughters: Sharon Ramsey, who lives in Marshall with her husband, Gary, and Julie Martin, who lives in Liberty with her husband, David. His last wish was granted: with Sharon and Julie by his side at home, as he went to meet Jesus. The joys of his life were his grandchildrenn, Holly Ramsey Griffin, Heather Ramsey Gast, Lindsay Hensley Latham and Megan Ramsey Bowman. He was also blessed with six great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. He will be truly missed by his very best friend, "Buddy." he was the son of the late Harold Benjamin and Lucy Todd Cole. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd, Eugene and Donald Cole. Richard is survived by four sisters and one brother, Blanch Woodward, Katie Jaquot, Aline Ingram, Joyce Miller and Bruce Cole. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Marie, Ann and Yvonne Cole. Richard aas a graduate of Oakley High School. He was sent to England by the U.S. Air Force in 1951,and after 20 years of dedicated service to his country, he retired from the military in 1970. Richard then pursued his dream of higher education, graduating from A-B Technical College with an associate degree in accounting; graduated magna cum laude from Mars Hills College with a B.S. in business administration, and finally achieved his master's degree in buiness administration from Western Carolina University. He retired again in 1993, aftter teaching evening classes at A-B Tech and working as the receiving supervisor for Thomas & Howard Company. Richard & Diana attended Emmanuel Cathedral Church in Oakley and were passionate in their faith and dedicated to serving God. They spent the last 15 years aministering to nurding home residents, with Diana's beautiful voice accompanied by Richard's guitar. He leaves with us the greatest gift ot true "Thanksgiving," for he was compassionate and generous to all in need and genuinely thankful for each and every moment of his life. The funeral will he held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Robbie Capp Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The Revs. Raymond Woodby and Michael Woodbv will officiate. Burial will follow in Ramsey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to p.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. on November 23, 2007.4

     David Wayne Cole David Wayne Cole, 62, of Chattanooga, Tenn., went to be with the Lord Monday, April 2, 2018. He was born in Asheville, to the late Angelita McTindal and Floyd Charles Cole. He lived in Boulder, Colo., for eight years before relocating to Chattanooga in 2000. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, David was proud of the American flag, which was always on display at his home. David attended A.C. Reynolds High School and graduated from North Carolina State University. He was a mechanical engineer by trade and he enjoyed innovative projects and working with his hands. He was predeceased by his mother, father and brother, Stephen Floyd Cole. He was survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Kay (Payne) Cole; his daughter, Allyson Amelia Cole of Rome, Ga; and two brothers, Phillip Cole and Ronnie Cole of Asheville, N.C. A gathering of friends and family was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home Lake Julian in Arden.2 He was born on November 18, 1955 at Asheville, Buncombe Co., North Carolina.1,2 He married Linda Kay Payne circa 1989.2 David Wayne Cole died on April 2, 2018 at Chattanooga, Hamilton Co., Tennessee, at age 62.2

     Stephen Floyd Cole Stephen Floyd Cole, age 65, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. He was born in Buncombe County to the late Floyd Charles and Angelita McTindal Cole of Asheville. He retired from the US Forest Service and was very instrumental in the 1988 construction of the Cradle of Forestry in Brevard. He was also crew chief on many forest fires across the United States. He loved to carve, paint, fish, grow plants and read. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ann Smith Cole; two daughters, Christy Andrews (Todd) of Asheville and Stacy Cole (Abe) of Asheville; six grandchildren, Althea, Chloe, Austin, Bryson, Ben and Ella; three brothers, Phillip Cole of Asheville, David Cole of Tennessee and Ronnie Cole of Asheville. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 11, at 4:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CarePartners Solace Center, P.O.
