He was a lifelong dairy farmer who always had a kind word for everyone he met. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 1994, at the Union Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church, Riner, with the Rev. Buford Linkous and Rev. Delores Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. on October 4, 1994.6

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Palmer Sr; daughter, Shirley Lee Palmer; and brothers, Kenneth Underwood and William 'Billy' Underwood. Those left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Barbara Bibb (Henry), Phyllis Palmer, Charlotte Walton, Charlene Clark; sons, Charles E. Palmer Jr., Mark Palmer, and Jerry Palmer; brothers and sisters, Ray Underwood (Jo) of Ga., Melvin Underwood (Bertha) of AK, Freddie Underwood of N.C., Dana Underwood, Roger Underwood (Pat), Darlene Underwood (Carl), and Judy Underwood, all of Va; as well as 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 2, 2020, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Buford Linkous and Delores Caldwell officiating. She went to nursing school which she was extremely proud of. She was a homemaker and enjoyed canning and gardening. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent time hunting and fishing with Bob, her husband. In most recent years, after her health failed her, she became a resident of Radford Health & Rehabilitation Center. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Bascom Ray & Mary Catherine Luticia Sutphin Morris, her husband, Robert Lee Chewning, Sr., her son, Danny Kingrea, a stepdaughter, Patricia Lovern, step-daughters-in-law, Carol Chewning and Pam Chewning; her brothers, Paul Morris, Daniel Morris, Howard Morris and Joseph Morris and her sister, Barbara Owens. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Patti K.
