Myrtle was born in Allisonia to Homer and Ada Clark. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Carlin, for 36 years. They owned Courtney's Store for many years. Myrtle enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, working the polls in Stafford County, operating the Fredericksburg Stock Yard restaurant with her good friend Florence Newton and was a longtime, active member of Grace United Methodist Church. Myrtle is survived by her three daughters, Wanda C. Truslow of Hartwood, Ann C. Timmons and her husband, Tommy, of Culpeper, and Faye C. Hayden and her husband, Mark, of Hartwood. Myrtle also is survived by her two brothers, Albert S. Clark and his wife, Fredericka, of Sumerduck, and Charles Clark of Woodbridge. Her grandchildren who loved their grandma are David C. Truslow, Eric T. Truslow, Carol T. Gaudio, D. Wayne Timmons, Lori. T. Deane and Matthew D. Hayden. Myrtle's great-grandchildren, who will miss their "Bamma" are Ryan, Blake, Zachary, Corrine and Samantha. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; her brothers, Glen Clark, Luther Clark, Norman Clark and Carl Clark; and her sisters, Gladys Lane and Sally Fraga. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Myrtle's life on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. A funeral will be held at the church on Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Henry McCaslin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund in memory of Myrtle Courtney, 13056 Elk Ridge Road, Hartwood, Va. 22406. Our family extends many thanks to Medi Hospice staff and Dr. Wayland Marks for their dedication and commitment to making Myrtle's journey from this life to the next peaceful. Special thanks to Larry Merritt and Ray Jordan for the craftsmanship and love they put into making the cremation urn. on October 9, 2008.2
