"We don't know much more than the police do," said a sister of Mary Jane Perry Stafford on Tuesday from her parents' home in Mason County. Police have said much remains unknown about the 34-year-old former student at Point Pleasant High School, whose body was discovered by a passerby on Saturday. Police believe Stafford, a 5-foot-5-inch brunette, was murdered. She was found dead over a hill near Laidley Field in an area police describe as a place where couples go to be alone. She was unclothed from the waist down. Her body was found 25 feet over a hill off East Woodland Drive, near Interstate 64. An autopsy was completed by the state medical examiner's office, but police refuse to give the cause of death. "It's to the detectives' advantage as to the investigation not to release it right now," said Charleston police spokeswoman Ivin Lee. Police believe the body had been lying there from four days to a week when it was found. Detectives have not been able to determine whether she had had sexual intercourse - either forced or consensual - because the body was exposed to the elements, Lee said. Stafford had lived in the 1500 block of Washington Street East before moving to the city's West Side in the days before she died, police said. She has also lived in Florida. Stafford, the daughter of Charles and Mary Schoolcraft Perry, comes from a large Point Pleasant family. According to obituary information relatives supplied, Stafford had three brothers and two sisters. She also had three children, who are listed as living in Point Pleasant. Stafford's family declined to talk about her. What she did from day to day is still not known. Stafford's name did not appear in a check of records in city, magistrate and circuit courts. County records do not show any real estate or cars owned by Stafford since 1991. on October 6, 1993.5

Perry, BMSN, 22, of Point Pleasant, and currently stationed in San Diego, CA, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Gallipolis, Ohio. Steven was the son of Danny Perry and Vickie Perry. Steven is a 2009 graduate of Point Pleasant High School, while in school he excelled in both basketball as well as track & field. Steven attended The First Church of God in Point Pleasant and loved fishing and spending time with his buddies. Upon graduation, Steven enlisted in the United States Navy, and was currently stationed on the USS Mobile Bay CG53, in San Diego, Ca. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth (Kem) Roberts, of Henderson, Wv, a brother, Scott Perry of Point Pleasant, Wv, Aunts; Bev Casto, Gwen Beattie, Rhonda Wheeler, Jean Bevins, and Marie Carter, uncles; Ronnie Jarvis, Charles Perry Jr., and David Perry, nieces; Heather Hughes, Jodi Trimble, Victoria Trimble a great nephew, Caden Romine, and a great grandmother, Betty Schoolcraft, of East Bank,Wv. Closed casket services will be held at The National Guard Armory in Point Pleasant, Wv on Friday May 31, 2013 with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M. with funeral services conducted by Pastor Bob Patterson and Pastor Carl Swisher beginning at 1:00 P.M. with full military honors to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Letart, Wv. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Stevens name to the military charity of your choice, (Homes for Vets, Wounded Warriors Project, USO).1 He was born on May 12, 1991.1 He died on May 26, 2013 at Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio, at age 22.1 He GALLIPOLIS, Ohio - The death of a sailor in Gallia County has been ruled accidental. Steven Perry, 22, was found dead in an apartment in Gallipolis in May. According to the autopsy report from the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, Perry died from acute alcohol and suboxone intoxication.The autopsy also showed blunt force head trauma. Perry was an active sailor in the U.S. Navy. Police say he was home on leave after returning from an eight-month deployment in the Persian Gulf. He was scheduled to return to service a couple of weeks later. on August 13, 2013.2
