He attended chaplaincy training at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and did his internship at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, DC. He then served as chaplain at Central State Hospital in Norman, OK for 19 years. Since his retirement, he also served as interim pastor at Goshen Baptist Church in Brunswick County. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Grant Smith; five children, Cheryl Banks and husband, Dwight, of Purcellville, VA, Rebecca Wheeler and husband, Rick, of Chapel Hill, NC, Dr. Stephen Smith and wife, Sandy, and Timothy Smith and wife, Ellen, all of Wilmington, NC, and Lisa Schneider and husband, John, of Edmond, OK; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Shirley Lyman of Wilmington.2 He was born on November 6, 1923 at Leaksville, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.1,2,3 He married Martha Courtney Grant, daughter of Athol Lee Grant Sr. and Carla Lindsey, on January 25, 1953 at Asheville, Buncombe Co., North Carolina.1,2 Rev. He has been honored in multiple Halls of Fame, including the American Association of College Baseball Coaches, The Rollins Sports, The Florida Sports, The Western North Carolina Sports, Central Florida Sports, and Sunshine State Conference. He is survived by his wife, Edith; sons, Dale, Largo, Joseph, Winter Park, Robert, Longwood; daughters, Marion Faubel, Gates Mills, OH, Stephanie Pinkard, Orlando; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers, Bill, Clearwater, and Neil, Conyers, GA. A Memorial Service will be held on September 17th, at 10AM at the Knowles Chapel at Rollins College. on August 9, 2005.4

Justice, 88, of 3 Wesley Drive, Apt. 3, Givens Estate, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999. Mr. Justice was born in Candler and was a son of the late P.G. and Etta Cly Justice. He was a retired house painter and a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club, Abernethy United Methodist Church, and the Happy Abernethy Group. Surviving are his wife, Nina Lee Sluder Justice a son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Henry A. and Renee Justice of Gastonia a granddaughter and her husband, Lee K. and Randall Black and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Black. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Abernethy United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dr. Patrick Welch and Oscar Dowdle officiating. Mr. Justice will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in Skyview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and request that memorials be made to Abernethy United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Avenue, Asheville, N.C. 28806 or to Givens Estate Supplementary Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, N.C. 28803. on February 21, 1999.3

Justice, son of Parley Garrett "Sam" Justice and Etta Cly "Ettie" Courtney, on May 21, 1934 at Buncombe Co., North Carolina.1,3,4 Nina Lee Sluder died on March 15, 2012 at Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina, at age 95.5,4 She Charlotte - Nina Lee Sluder Justice, 95, a former resident of Givens Estate for twenty-two years, died Thursday March 15, 2012 at Wilora Healthcare Center in Charlotte. A native of Alexander, Nina Lee was a daughter of the late Aldolphus and Grace Sluder. She was preceded in death by her husband H.G. Justice in 1999 and by a sister Jessie Radford. Nina Lee was still active in selling Stanley Home Products after sixty plus years with the company. She was a member of Abernethy United Methodist church here she was a faithful member of the choir, active in the Methodist Women's Sociey and the Happy Abernethy Group. Nina Lee is survived by a son, the Rev. Henry Justice and his wife Renee of Charlotte. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Lee K. Black and her husband Randall and two great-grandcildren, Taylor Black and Hannah Lee Black. Funeral service for Mrs Justice will be held a 2:00 p.m. Monday March 19 at the Abernethy United Methodist Church with the Revs . Wesley Austin and Oscar Dowdle and Henry Justice officiating. Internment will follow in Sky View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour pior to the service at the church. The family asks that memorial contributions in Nina Lee's memory be made to Abernethly United Methodist Church, 1418 Patton Ave, Asheville North Carolina 28806 or to Givens Estates Resident Assistance Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family. on March 17, 2012.4
