Her Social Security Number was 233-02-3793.2 Mary Jane Perry was buried at Letart Evergreen Cemetery, Letert, Mason Co., West Virginia.3 Her married name was Stafford.2 She married Unknown Stafford.2,4,5 Mary Jane Perry was born on November 22, 1958 at Montgomery, Fayette Co., West Virginia.2 She died on September 15, 1993 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 34.2,5 She A sister of a woman found dead in Charleston said family members will not be able to help fill in the details of events leading to their relative's death. "We don't know much more than the police do," said a sister of Mary Jane Perry Stafford on Tuesday from her parents' home in Mason County. Police have said much remains unknown about the 34-year-old former student at Point Pleasant High School, whose body was discovered by a passerby on Saturday. Police believe Stafford, a 5-foot-5-inch brunette, was murdered. She was found dead over a hill near Laidley Field in an area police describe as a place where couples go to be alone. She was unclothed from the waist down. Her body was found 25 feet over a hill off East Woodland Drive, near Interstate 64. An autopsy was completed by the state medical examiner's office, but police refuse to give the cause of death. "It's to the detectives' advantage as to the investigation not to release it right now," said Charleston police spokeswoman Ivin Lee. Police believe the body had been lying there from four days to a week when it was found. Detectives have not been able to determine whether she had had sexual intercourse - either forced or consensual - because the body was exposed to the elements, Lee said. Stafford had lived in the 1500 block of Washington Street East before moving to the city's West Side in the days before she died, police said. She has also lived in Florida. Stafford, the daughter of Charles and Mary Schoolcraft Perry, comes from a large Point Pleasant family. According to obituary information relatives supplied, Stafford had three brothers and two sisters. She also had three children, who are listed as living in Point Pleasant. Stafford's family declined to talk about her. What she did from day to day is still not known. Stafford's name did not appear in a check of records in city, magistrate and circuit courts. County records do not show any real estate or cars owned by Stafford since 1991. on October 6, 1993.5
