Born June 2, 1915 at Maben, he was the son of the late Jesse Crawford Wood and Rosa McBride Wood. Mr. Wood was a coal miner for 21 years at Bud and a foreman at Bethleham Steel in Baltimore, Md. for 20 years. After retirement, he returned to his farm in Rock in June 1976 and worked his farm until 2000 when he fell ill. He was a member of the Order of the Moose in Monmouth, N.J. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Fay Wood; his second wife, Ruby Emma Wood; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Wood and his wife Lynn, Richard Wood, and Kenneth Wood and his wife Jean all of Baltimore; six daughters, Carol Sutton, Linda Poggioli and her husband Pete, Brenda Hernandez and her husband Alfredo, Judy Fortney and Shirley Cox and her husband Roger all of Baltimore, and Phyllis Hoff and her husband Danny of Falling Waters; one stepson, Waldon Dodd and his wife Bernice of Coal City; one brother, Thomas Wood of Baltimore; 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces and cousins of Maryland, Florida and West Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call today from 6-9 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton. on August 28, 2004.2
