Born Nov. 17, 1925, in Narrows, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Fannie Poff. Mrs. Henley came to Mullens in 1926, where she spent her childhood. She was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene, Pineville, where she served as pianist and organist for many years. Coming to Pineville in 1949, she was employed for two years at the opening of radio station WWYO as bookeeper. She worked 10 years at The Independent Herald, six years in the sheriffs office, 15 years at the Guyandotte Mental Health Clinic and five years at Human Services. She was involved in community services, having served as Heart Fund chairman for several years and on the Sheltered Workshop Board for many years. She was on the United Fund Board and secretary of the County Mental Health Association. She was elected to the State Democratic Committee two terms and the Center District Democratic Committee five terms. She served as secretary of the committee during this time. She also served as county campaign chairman one term. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Pauley of Mullens. Survivors include her husband, Jack Henley; three sisters, Fern Tolliver and Betty Goode, both of Pineville, and Harva Mae Stockham of Akron, Colo; a foster son, Gerald Green of Glen Rogers; a nephew, D.J. Tolliver; a niece, Gloria Sizemore; a grandnephew; and a great-grandnephew. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, Pineville, with the Rev. Leroy Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. on March 30, 1999.9
