Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen Loudin Slater; sons and daughters-in-law, Hansford "Hanky" Slater, Bernard "Buddy" and Trina Slater, Gary Wayne Slater, Steven "Stevie" Slater, and Christopher "Charlie" and Vicky Slater, all of Charleston; daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry and Mike Thomas, Donna "Sissy" Pauley, Betty "Tenny" Walls, all of Charleston; over 100 grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Clifford Burdette officiating. Burial will be in Slater Cemetery, Tuppers Creek. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. on May 13, 2007.4

Loudin II, Robert Lee Loudin, John Michael Loudin and Thomas Loudin; sisters, Pamela Jean Loudin and Patricia Ann Loudin; as well as eight grandchildren.
