"Dick" Akers of Christiansburg; a son and daughter-in-law, John Alvin and Rita Calhoun of Moneta, Va; a sister, Hazel Hogan of Roanoke; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 7, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family requests that no live flowers be sent due to allergies, however, memorial contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon on Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. on June 7, 2000.⁶
