Salty was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Trudy S. Albert, of Whitethorne; son and daughter-in-law, Juel M. Jr. and Angie Albert, of Whitethorne; brother-in-law, William White and his wife, Bessie, of Whitethorne; two granddaughters, Tiffany and Shawn Brown, of Whitethorne, and Crystal and Jason Boyle, of Blacksburg; seven great-grandchildren, Justyna, Tanner, Dawson, Wyatt, Luke, Riley, and Layla. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Albert Family Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. She was a Godly, Christian lady in every sense of the word and is finally reunited with her soul-mate. Elva was a dedicated and loving wife of 46 years to the late Joe F. Slusser and she stood by his side daily at Slusser's Meat Processing. She shared her faith in God with those she came in contact with and could often be found with her Bible open to Proverbs 3:4-5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Slusser Drummond and husband, John, of Christiansburg, Va; her granddaughter, Stacey Ely (who loved and admired her Memmie so much) and husband, Brian, of Abingdon, Va; grandson, Ross Drummond and wife, Elsha, and their children, William, Lucy and Jack, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and grandson, William Drummond and fiancée, Alicain Carlson, of Apex, N.C. She is also survived by her loyal companion, her dog, Baxter. He stayed faithfully by her side for six years, providing her joy and unconditional love. Many thanks to the Blacksburg and Christiansburg Volunteer Rescue Squads and the nursing staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital for their loving care. In addition, the family would like to express thanks to Dr. Joseph Cacioppo and Medi Home Health and Hospice for their dedication to ensuring she had the best care possible and tending to her needs so selflessly. Also, to Donna Burnes and Neil Turner for being there when we needed you most. Wheeler, 56, of Springfield, Ohio, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in his residence following a brief, courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on January 2, 1941 to the late George Edward and Lillian (Icy) Phillips Jarrell. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Sifford and Bonnie Bennett.
