Mrs. West is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. West and husband George Collins of Martinsville; two sons, Michael F. West and wife Bonnie of Lynchburg and Walter G. (Jerry) West and wife Kirsten of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Edna LaCorte of Old Bridge, NJ and Irma Purvis of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Christopher West, Alison Sosebee, Candice Wade, Nathan West and Natalie West; three great-grandchildren, Riley Sosebee, Alden Wade and Trentin Wade. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Collinsville with the Rev. Larry Cheek officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Burial will be private. Chuck Knight will officiate. Kathy was born on July 10, 1955 to John Henry and Hattie Belle (Leach) Palmer in Ironton, Ohio. She loved being with her family and especially cherished time spent with her grandkids. Kathy was a beloved mother, sister, nana and friend. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer McGowan; her son, Matthew Ryan Neukirch; her brothers, John Palmer, Ron Palmer and David Nash; her sisters, Karen Asinas, Carolyn Thompson and Traci Plowman; her beloved grandchildren, Austin McGowan, Sydney McGowan, Hunter McGowan, Joshua McGowan, Cailyn Neukirch and Avery Neukirch; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.2 Her married name was Neukirch.1 She married Daryl E. Kay also showed great compassion towards animals of all kinds. Kay met Kevin Thompson in 1976. They were married on November 19, 1979 in Richmond, Indiana. Together they raised 2 children: Jon Michael and Amanda Dawn Thompson. Carolyn is survived by Brothers: John R. Palmer, Ron Palmer, David Nash. Sisters: Karen Asinas, Traci Plowman. Grandchildren: Ryan Miller, Kayla Thompson, Abigail Thompson, Eliza Thompson. Also, numerous close friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by John H. Palmer, father; Hattie Nash, mother; Kathy Neukirch, sister.
