     James Abraham Smith was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.2,5 He was born on August 5, 1879 at Blacksburg, Virginia; His draft card has a birth year of 1878.3,4,5 He married Elza Hampton "Elzie" Elmore, daughter of Joel Bradley Elmore and Sarah Catherine Shaver, on November 22, 1898 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.7,2 James Abraham Smith died on May 16, 1957 at Newport News, Virginia, at age 77.2,4,5,6 He James Abraham Smith, 78, of 1824 Orange Ave., Roanoke, died Thursday at Riverside Hospital after a short illness. He was visiting his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Hamblin of 6 Morrison Ave., Warwick, when he became ill. Mr. Smith was a native of Montgomery county and had been a resident of Roanoke for a number of years. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Richardson of Roanoke and Mrs. Don Richardson of Charlottesville; one son, C. R. Smith of Roanoke and several grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be held in Roanoke. on May 18, 1957.6
